Question about Dream / Aura Pulse Damage and Sorceress Masteries

    Hello,

    I couldn’t find a clear answer in the forum, so I’d like to ask directly:

    How does the pulse damage from Dream (Holy Shock aura) and similar aura-damage runewords interact with Sorceress mechanics? Specifically:
    1. Does Lightning Mastery increase pulse damage, or only the lightning damage added to attacks?
    2. Do unique jewels with -% enemy lightning resistance (like Rainbow Facets) affect the pulse damage?
    3. Do +all skills or +lightning skills gear affect the aura’s pulse?
    4. Or is it the case that only Paladin skill tree synergies (Resist Lightning, Salvation) can increase the pulse damage?
    5. And what happens in this case? Dragon (14) + Dragon (14) + HoJ (16) = Level 44 Holy Fire aura. + Paladin skill + all skills + jewels ?
    Thanks in advance for clarifying how pulse damage is calculated on this server.

    Hello, @lukata. I made a sorcy "auradin" long ago, and what i saw in the process was:

    1- Yes, Lightning Mastery increase pulse damage;
    2- Yes, jewels with -% enemy lightning resistance affect the pulse damage, as well itens like Crescent Moon or Infinity;
    3- +all skills, +lightning skills, +Lightning Mastery works as well;
    4- No, Fire Mastery works on Holy Fire and Lightning Mastery works on Holy Shock;
    5- + Paladin skill and + all skills does NOT work to increase the level of the aura in this case, but jewels increase the damage.

    Body Armor / Shield / Weapon
    Dragon (14) + Dragon (14) + HoJ (16) = Level 44 Holy Fire aura.
    Do they stack like this?

    What about Jewels, how they work with masteries?

    Seems Paladin with real aura would be better, but in paladins case does jewels get added to synergy bonus from flat skill points? or actually multiplied?

    I noticed inconsistency between pulse damage in server and in skill calculators

    So I looked up d2r change logs:
    • Damage scales based on distance to the caster. Aura will deal double damage at melee range and linearly scale to normal damage at maximum range
    • Tooltip: The maximum Area Damage values now incorporate the maximum proximity damage bonus

    It seems these are not added into server.
    Perhaps someone from administration could clarify ?

    Did u manage to one shot nightmare cows? so far it seems quite bad even with 54 holy fire

    @Kefflar32 was spot on with the answer to your last question. Those changes are hardcoded to D2R and they are not available in D2Legacy.

    In my opinion to compensate that, it could boost the whole pulse damage by +30-50%. Well pulse damage is useless in hell, at best it can be used in NM cows, but even that seems bad

    What is your aim in this thread?

    The only useful thing of this equipment is gems farming on normal, where this dmg is enough.

    To one shot NM cows with pulse damage from far, they are better then normal cows, as for hell cows that wont be possible anyway

    And what is the reason (drop) b/w normal and nm cows? Can’t see the difference

    To one shot
    Some Runes and potential of clean gc with skill, like said its better then normal cows, but not comparable to hell cows, but u cant one shot hell cows from far anyway

    If you want anything else then what that build can do maybe is better to make a new char for hell cows? There are plenty of good builds for hell cow. For runes and gc you better do hell imo is a waste of time to try to find that in nightmare or normal
