Hi,i'm really curious if this can be achieved...

Hi GameSymbol and hi to everyone else.

I was thinking about this,since i saw a few post in this part of the forum.

Everybody want's a little change there,a new item here,a new option there,so I was wondering if,with the help of everybody here and of course GameSymbol it self,that maybe just maybe GS could start a second realm,but this one modded.

I'm talking about higher or lower xp/drops. Bugged or new items/rw. I know that there a few other communities that tried this and failed,but i'm fairly sure,that if we can all contribute on this in a form or another we can make this as good as the realm GS already has.

Don't bite my head off,don't attack my person,this is simply a suggestion. I'm fairly sure that this will settle the need for new items/rw,bugged items or whatever you guys might want.

Of course this will be the choice of GS and not ours,but i think that this is a fair way to get out all of the ideas about new items/rw etc.

Personally i would love another realm a "fun realm" something that can take me out of the boring daily grind for items to PvP on this realm. I was always a fan of modded items/rw and i think it's a great way to improve this game's "gameplay".

Even if this doesn't happen i would still love to hear some ideas from all of you,on how would you make this game "better" in your opinion and your words.

P.S. : I am not trying to change anything,like i mentioned already this is merely a suggestion,so let's hear some ideas guys.

Splitting up the community into 2 realms not a good idea.As far as items be nice to see other stuff but very limited.Personally I like to see 08 valks implemented and maybe +1 skill added to gheed charms

 

This has nothing to do with splitting up the community. I'm extremely sure that players would still play on the "normal realm" and as i've already stated,this is just a suggestion. I'd love to hear what Gix/Coldet/hanyweh/IceHeart or any other GM's and players have to say...

 

He's right though. Taking only a few play hours per week from players on this realm would mean a few less drops, a harder time trader, and less duels, etc. I would rather see some very small changes at a slow rate of implementation with a go-ahead to pull them if they don't work. I would like to see them happen though, none the less, because I think that adding items to challenge the "standard builds" would spark a lot of creative interest.

 

i dont like the idea reasons were already mentioned in the postings above.
imo we need to start some events where everybody can participate whether pvp or pvm with decent prizes.

 

As a developer I do agree with the fact that new content definitely sparks interest in the gaming community. However, I will have to also agree that in a community like this it would not make much sense to open up a second realm.. Trust me, I have put much thought into this.. I am knowledgeable in modding/scripting as well as development from the ground up. That being said, I did contact Gix about doing some development for the current realm and after some debate and communication I realized he was right. The very reason this server survives is the fact people play together and that they are playing a game they remember. They know this game, some of them know this game better than they know the back of their own hands! Heh, all I can say is if we start messing around with it people now have the options to go, "Hey, this mod was cool.. Let's check out another one somewhere else." which is the last thing this community needs in terms of population.

Thanks again for your suggestion man and also showing that there is somebody else out there supporting the same idea.. However, as a few people have pointed out, it really might not be the best thing to do. So, I support your theory but, I also support the fact that this specific Diablo II server is fine as it is. It just needs some more things to do like Bglzaborg said.

This is the answer to the problem. I found this out a couple weeks ago and some of you might have seen my striving to accomplish a solid goal for improving this problem. I hope that we can have that events section full of threads that are constantly updated with activities throughout the week.

I've been on this server a few years now, when we split euro/usa it was hard finding people to run with, baal ect. I personally would like to see Less crap uniques spammed everywhere, like to see more wyrmhides, scarab husks and less AP's. I also want an all barb realm with no ww lag, and free bacon for hitting level 89. Anyways, the realm is fine as is, just gotta think outside the box when farming gear and runes.

more than anything it would split the community and recources, im sure this is an idea of someone from WOB. ive seen how having a "fun " realm affects the whole community overall and its has never been anything short of disateros. ( srry i cant spell today)

 

Yes this does seem like a WOB request, yet all must remember that WOB server is no longer alive and the Owner directed all the players to us. And i give a good job to the creativity to the customized realm but the fact that people play this game is because it is what it is, Diablo II. If we wanted to play something different than we would just play something different; more than likely something newer than a 1995 platform.

I guess what im trying to say is the most populated customized Diablo II server went downhill and thats a risk that doesnt and shouldnt have to be made. As a great band (Kiss) once said "Keep it simple, stupid"
