What do you mean by Item Find barbarian? Are you going to be searching for gold or items ?

Then just a regular merc guide with Insight and no Cold damage items. You can substitute Fortitude for Treachery, Raven for Carrion Wind ( Life leech ) and such. As far as I know the best setup for PvM would be Beast with Grief , but I'm not that much into Barbarians. I'd suggest using dual hoto on off hand for +6 to IF in total and 80FCR for faster moving around.

You say it has no cold damage, but Forty has CtC chilling armor and it will occasionally shatter monsters, which is not really recommended for IF barbs.

Otherwise it has massive damage and is just GG, if you can afford the BOTD ofcourse.

I thought about clarifying that fact, but I didn't , gonna do it now. If your mercenary deals the killing blow of a monster, the monster's drop will be calculated with Mercenary Magic find / Gold find + Yours. For example, if you have 500MF and your mercenary has 200 MF , if he deals the final blow the drop will be calculated with 700MF in mind. There is, however, a distinct difference between a Gold Finder and a Magic Finder. If you equip your Barbarian correctly and farm Crypt/Pit/AT you will basically kill instantly most of the monsters. If, however, you decide to do as GF Barbarians do, and wait for your mercenary to kill the monsters - that is going to take a hell of a long time, massively influencing your efficiency in a bad way. Keeping that in mind, I suggest you to use a simple mercenary build that is aimed more at sustaining and supporting your hero, rather than building it the other way around. Yes, in terms of damage dealt on low HP monsters, Fortitude is superior than Treachery, however, it melts some of the bodies and the damage improvement you receive from it is kind of irrelevant, because you will be the one that does most of the killing anyway.
Also, MF does not influence the chance of getting an item, besides the skill % (If you have 55% chance on Find Item, MF does not improve that percentage, it is the same with 0 MF and 500MF). So, I think in terms of efficiency it would be good to get around 200MF and the rest of your gear to be aimed at damage and FCR , because you will be doing a lot of TP-ing. As it was already mentioned, NM Offensive mercenary with Might aura will be best suited for the job. You can also use some ML/Damage goes to Mana items and equip your mercenary with a better support item , for example using an Archer mercenary with Faith ( Higher Fanaticism aura than Beast ) or Pride on A2. There are a lot of different combinations you may try, but I think the most balanced in terms of speed/price would be to just use an Insight.

The MF percent works the same way with Item Find as when a monster gets killed, it takes effect on the rarity of the dropped item, not it's base type.

Sorry if I didn't understand you, but I had to point it out to avoid confusion.

    Cheers.
