Haven't really seen any good horror movies ever since Shutter, The Ring and The Grudge series which I consider they're among the best horror movies of all time. I guess the last parts of Insidious and The Conjuring were okish but still not even close to those that I mentioned.

The Grudge and Shutter from the era of actual scary movies. Really looking forward to see the future of those kind of thai/japanese inspired horror films.

Well, since we usually watch horror movies together with my wife, I find it hard to be scared (since she always freaks out and that is funny as hell). Movies I saw are somehow boring and expected. Btw, Ring is really that good? I tried to watch it several times, always fell asleep :-/

Wes Cravens The People Under the Stairs, The first Nightmare on Elm Street, The Howling 4, Poltergiest, Amityville Horror, ect ect, those were my horror movies growing up. These new PG13 rated "horror" movies are a joke and a waste of time.

I assume you know the original "The Thing" by heart, but the so hated remake is pretty decent.
I did a small marathon recently (again), watching them one after another (1982 -> 2011) blows my mind every single time. Just remember to watch the full credits of the latter.

Also, I strongly recommend still-fresh-and-hot (also not-so-liked-by-masses) "Annihilation" (available on Netflix) - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2798920/
Fell in love with this one.
It's predictible at parts, seemingly too vague or artsy at times, but theres just this 'something' about it that chills my spine every time I think about it.
The jaw-dropping factor gently struck me the very next day after watching, while replaying some scenes in my mind.
    Scary - decently.
Disturbing - depends, for me it was pretty high on scale. Comparable to "The Thing".

There were so many remakes of it that I always mess them up, but there were very good and horrible ones among them

@V4mpir, IT was awesome back in '90 and to be honest the recent remake wasn't that bad either.
