Hello guys, does any of you had success running the game on a M1/2/3/4 Mac computer?

I've tried Whisky, Crossover but seems like it's not passing the GameGuard verification and game can't actually run... Any help would be appreciated!

Hey @Buttermelon unsure if you can get it running on any of the emulators, that worked on the intel CPUs. But you can surely make it work with a virtual machine set on Windows. Another player recently got that working @ArmaniExchange

Have you tried an older version of Wineskin @Buttermelon? What verification it's not passing, exactly? Maybe it's a permissions/firewall issue.
You could also give Kegworks a try, seems to be the successor of Wineskin and it's open source https://github.com/Kegworks-App/Kegworks/. Found a bit of an older post here and there should be some more, but I'm sure there are some Mac users out there as well.

Thanks, I will look into those options and try.

Launcher hangs right after the game guard splash screen appears. The shield like icon of game guard appears, but then nothing happens and it auto closes.

I don’t have any Firewalls up but gotta check that with more depth.

I am now running the game with Parallels VM and it’s good. But the thing is my Parallels subscription ends and idk if I wanna reinstantiate it, because Codeweavers CrossOver is far better option for running games.

If you suspect gameguard, there is a way to test it from different angle: topaz chat. That uses game's dlls. Set up a d2 client under any Win VM. Avoid launcher. Just download that 2 GB pack, run it, send europebattle.exe over the game folder, also unpack the latest version of topaz chat stuff into that folder, and run topaz chat. Can you join to the chat?

I can give you one point, but not more :)

That subscription is about to run out, so there is need to test other VMs, and figure out, where to look for more details. Or am I wrong?

After a further research it appears that it’s not possible to launch GameGuard on any of the Wine/Whisky/CrossOver cause they miss some internal windows stuff that GameGuard checks.

    Pretty strange for $30.000 a year software, lol… :D

Can you be more specific @Buttermelon? I'm not sure if that's the issue you're facing because we definitely have people running the game just fine on Wine.
Send me a PM here with a short video while you are trying to run the game so I can see the message you're getting or the behavior.

On Linux, I had to use winetricks to install some MS redist packages then it works with wine.

For some reason I couldn't post the message there, but here is a link to the video -
Literally nothing happens after the GameGuard splash screen, no error, no nothing.

Also that's M1 Mac Studio running Sequoia OS, I bet Linux distros and other build are quite different compared to the ARM architecture of that M1

Have you tried @starxplor's suggestion and see what happens after installing Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages 2015-2019?
Also, stick to the default launching parameters and don't select -ddraw or any other settings for now, leave it on window mode. Maybe there's something useful in the log files as well, so check your PM.

PS: Is there a compatibility mode you can select, such as Windows XP or Windows 7? If there is, then add compatibility mode for the following files: Game.exe and Diablo II.exe

Yes, even with the VC Redist 2015-2019 it still does the same. Also tried running in -w mode instead, and still the same thing.

Also checked the other compatibility modes for the Bottle and Win XP/7/10 or 11 - same result, crashes.
