check your framerate in game first if its unstable try limiting to the lowest you get , if very high use vsync or limit the frame rate by 3 of your monitor refresh rate
zoom out only through battle net in game - options - video options - resolution - 1068x600

Thats not real zoom out or its not allowed?

certain areas just close the game window, which upscale shader is less likely to give such problems?

everything is explained already in the first post
before you change the resolution just wait a bit
and also i recommend rejoining a game after desired resolution is chosen
the best shader in terms of both quality and performance is xbrz-freescale-multipass 3 passes

I tried alot of them, only first one seems not to look like lag when walking, the more phases the more it lags... Might be just laptop...
I tend to get complete d2 exit when trying to walk after mass kill if not waiting couple seconds in same space

    @milenskipln
Is there any fix for the Instant Crash/Game.exe Closing with no error's Using Sting MH..? This only happens on Act 5

The Only thing that I have found to Work is before going to act 5 I hit the hotkey to disable "ESP" on the map. Which is getting annyoing having to do this over and over.
BH it works Perfectly.. However, Lately I've been playing Hardcore 100% of the time and I really need that Quick Town or Game Exit hotkey's that Sting Mh provides.

Hey guys, i have a very strange issue started yesterday afternoon - all out of a sudden. First I noticed that my game window was very compressed, in a vertically stretched rectangle with big black borders on top and bottom ( my gaming window was a really small square in the middle of it) - I have not done anything to trigger that.

Ever since this happened, I have went to CTRL+O and started reverting settings so i can have my window as big as it used to be, however now my game flickers.

I have tried every single Upscale Shader Preset with no success, none of them fixes my game to a smooth moving character.

I have done maybe 10 full game reinstalls (removing the registry, reinstalling, reinserting all tools) and during the first launch of the game everything is smooth. Once I open a new launcher things get messy again. I have the awkward feeling that the features for HD cursor and HD text are messing this up, however I totally cannot remember what my settings were before that happened.

I am following completely the install guides for both the game and all other tools but with no success.

I am sharing my current config and will be really really thankful for any ideas..

EDIT: yep, it is obviously the HD Cursor and the HD text options (either one of them or both of them - doesnt matter). When i turn those off and restart the game issue disappears. Any ideas why this might be happening and how can I get around it? Id prefer to enhance the text of the game?

EDIT2: a little bit of more troubleshooting investigation:

So, when I join the game and the HD Cursor & text have not been put on prior to the game start - the text is blurry( no enhancement made by D2GL) but there is no flickering. I press CTRL+O and put the HD text and cursor ON - enhancement is there, flickering still not there. -> THEN if i need to restart the game for any reason i have the flickering (if the HD Cursor and Text have been ON in the settings from the previous game start, so the game starts with them ON again). What I have to do is turn off the HD text & cursor, restart the game (so it starts with them off by default) and turn them ON while i am in the game.
Every time I am turning the game off I need to remind myself to turn them off, and every time i start the game I need to turn them ON again.

Any ideas of a workaround or of what is causing the issue will be appreciated.

As you can see, this is not a common issue and looks like nobody else has encountered it either, so there's not much feedback to give as per your mention from the other thread. I personally never had it, nor heard anyone else having this flickering problem. If it popped out of a sudden as you're saying, then it must've been some software update you made on your computer. As far as google advises, check your drivers and make sure they are up to date or roll back to the previous version if you noticed this happening after an update, toggle VSync options on and off and see if it makes any difference and turn off any on-screen display or overlay software that you may have installed.
Another thing you can try is maybe switch back and forth from Direct Draw to Direct 3D by running D2VidTst.exe located inside your game folder and see if that changes anything and also try out Window Mode.
