Announcement Diablo II Ladder Reset - 25 September 2026

The time has come, heroes of Sanctuary ... Season 12 begins on Friday, 25 September 2026. Get ready for the ladder reset!
Sharpen your skills, prepare your builds and gather your allies, Season 12 will be your next chance to conquer the Ladder, claim legendary loot, and rise to the top!

Alongside the ladder reset we will be releasing a new realm patch, patch notes will be available in the coming weeks. Until then, finish strong and prepare for a fresh start!

On the day of Friday, September 25th, we’ll be conducting a maintenance in order to reset the Diablo II ladder. The realm will be unavailable for a few minutes and during this time all existing ladder characters will be converted to non-ladder. All characters and items being converted to non-ladder will remain intact so they will not be lost, but once converted these characters will no longer have access to ladder content such as ladder-only rune words. Please keep in mind that due to our long-term ladders, the vast majority of our players are playing ladder characters only.

This ladder reset, like all those before it, creates a clean slate where all ladder characters begin at level 1 with no previous items to help them. To participate, simply wait until the Diablo II realms return to service on September 25, log in to the server, and select the “Ladder Character” checkbox when creating a new character. You can track ladder character leveling progress by clicking on the Ladder button from the main Diablo II in-game interface. For more information on ladder characters, visit the following link: https://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/basics/charactertypes.shtml

You won't need to change anything on your side, you will still be able to log in with the same accounts that you own and use the same game version. To participate in the new season, all you have to do is create a new Ladder Character once the ladder has been reset and if you wish to use your old nickname, you can delete your previous non-ladder character and take back your name.

To keep it fair towards those who supported the server recently and right before the reset, a 50% to 100% rate of the donated amount will be reimbursed if you purchased any items in the past couple of months. All previously purchased items will not be lost, they will all forever remain intact together with your characters being transferred to non-ladder. More details about items reimbursement will be provided several days into the new ladder as the webshop will not be available at the start. Ladder resets have always lasted up to two years, with the timeframe generally being anywhere between one and two years. That doesn't mean a reset cannot happen a few months before or after the initially mentioned date for a future ladder reset, as has happened in the past, and multiple factors can influence that decision. Since this game has always been based around ladder resets, normally lasting around 3 to 4 months, we have always kept a higher range in mind.

Since interest has been fairly low lately and a large majority of players were expecting a ladder reset, not to mention that summer does impact gaming in general, especially for a 26-year-old game, and we had the time to take a few days off to prepare for a ladder reset, we might as well do it closer to a period when people are more likely to return to gaming.

Just as you were not around for the past seven months, others have been in a similar position, while a different group of people was playing, and so on; it's a permanent rotation.
