Just curious what everyone is picking up when they are farming for loot? I know runes and skiller grand charms are always good. What kind of magic, and rare items are you guys holding on to? I've found a few circlets that I'm not sure if they should be charsi food or not. I also found a magic sin claw that has 1 to all assassin skills 20 increased attack speed and 2 to blades of ice. Would this be something you guys would hold on to?

Trash the claw.. if it was +1 / +3 light claw, would be worth keeping, but a claw that only has +3 all together is usually trash... feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but if your going towards a trap set up... your gonna want to be putting out at least +4-5 each per claw.

The things to look for when farming is endless which makes it fun, and sometimes nerve wrecking at the same time, always afraid ill trash something of value.

I craft as well so I am always looking trash jewels & certain gems for crafting, I just gamble the ammys... but when I do gamble the amulets, I am always looking at a circlet or tiara to pop up for sale, and I will buy those as well in case I get lucky... but while magic finding I am always quick checking certain shops as well for 4os armor / life (jewelers armor of the whale) and checking the claws for the ones I talked about before.

But besides the above, magic finding itself... I have set up my maphack to only reveal certain items that I am looking for... so all the junk will just be hidden which is a nice feature the map hack has... so besides godly unique's, I am always picking up rare boots, gloves, amulets, rings, claws, belts, circlets and more... never know when one of those rares will be a mf ring with great stats.

Runes I also have from Lem or Lum and higher revealed... which I just craft together slowly for higher runes, or sometimes just craft them alone to get those lower runes for crafting amulets and what not.

I never pick up Large charms, although I am sure there are some great ones out there... I just go for the sc's and gc's

And like you mentioned... magical items are fun to find too.. gloves, might pop a 3/20 for an amazon. Claws, might get lucky.. pally weapons with good stats for a fister and so on... Even ethereal items like armor, or shields, crpaxes and more which can be used for not only your merc but for runewords for your characters... so much to think about!

I hit up most of the 85 monster level areas and just hope for the best... some days are super dry... others are super lucky!

For me an important part of magic finding is always having a side project, be it crafting rings / ammys or even crafting skillers... always have a side project so that when you get those days where your finding NOTHING.. which is most for me... at least your outputting something!

What about you? What do you keep an eye out for?

I'll throw it to the vendors.

I think magic finding is way more exciting then pvp sometimes, but also nerve racking too. I mostly just pick up everything when the boss drops it's loot, so I can convert it to gold. I'll probably start buying amulets, and circlets like you said you do. When I'm moving around the map like cleaning the arcane for specters I usually look for gcs, scs, and rare/magic items like gloves, claws, and javelins. I'm always picking up rare rings, amulets, and circs. I find them more interesting then the run of the mill uniques, and rune words.
What kind of gems do you collect for crafting? I saw a picture that Escob4r posted up, and he was using a ton of rubies to craft some stuff.

What about a eth 4 socket monarch shield? worth keeping?

For the crafting part you will need amethyst to craft amulets ( Recipe ral rune - magic amulet (best for it to be ilvl 90+) perfect amethyst - any random jewel ) rubys for rings ( Recipe - sol rune - Magic ring (best for it to be ilvl 90+) perfect ruby - any random jewel - you then put the intire recipe into the cube and transmute it and it will turn into amulet/ring of random stats. Just be aware that you will need a high level character to be able to gamble high ilvl amulets and rings from the vendor, so it will be a good idea to get into a high level like 94-95 before starting to craft, Hope this helps you out and answered your question. By the way 40 random perfect gems equals vex so every gem is worth picking up but 40 rubys will be ohm and the same with amethyst , 40 random jewels can also sell for ohm. Best regards

This actually does help! I probably won't start crafting until I get my sorc up in the lvl95 range like you suggested. Definitely gonna collect rubies and amethysts for selling.

I find a lot of socketed flails, monarchs, and pole arms as well.

Do you think more Magic Find helps? I've always wondered if the gains drop off at a certain point.

Most of us have already heard about diminishing results of MF. What is it?

Let's say that the chance for an item dropped from regular monster to be unique is 1:400 , chance for set is 1:160, chance for rare is 1:100, chance for magic is 1:34 and you have 200 MF total. While for magic quality check, your full MF is used, for unique, set and rare check, the MF is reduced by a specific factor using this formula:

    Effective MF = MF*Factor/(MF+Factor)

where Factor=250 for Uniques, 500 for sets, 600 for rares

So with Effective MF in our case is: 250*200/(250+200) = 111 for uniques, 142 for sets, 150 for rares. Only effective MF is used in appropriate quality checks, so we have a 1/400 * 2.11 chance for item being uniqe, then the chance for set is 1/160 * 2.42, for rare it's 1/100 * 2.50 and for magic it's 1/34 * 3.00 .

Well, not only do I do sessions of magic finding + listening to albums as a daily luxurious hobby on my sorc, but I'm also looking for some specific items. Problem is that my sorc isn't geared the best at all, and some of the hot spots in hell are too dangerous still. As of now, I mostly farm various nightmare content, mostly radiant of sewers lvl3 act2 lately.. Got a +2 necros 20fcs 15vit wand and a +1 bow skill 20ias 55iar mana leech bow today, as well as my second piece of Saigon's. I'm starting to bulk up on items lvl 20-40 that I'm gladly going to use on my alternate characters, I've managed to grab like 5 different spears/javs for my javazon, best option looted so far is actually a superior spear with +2 javalin/spear skills, 20iar, 50%+ dmg to undead, with 4 lovely sockets! (requires char lvl 15 + 57 dex).

@jah That makes sense. Thanks for posting that graph up. I need more MF:X3:

There is a thread you should post in to get some start up gear. http://forum.europebattle.net/threads/need-items-this-is-your-thread.539050/

    • I usually look for decent armor bases 15ed / shield bases 45 all res / i pick up all small charms and grand charms i find. I pick up most yellow ( rare ) items i find (rings amulets belts boots gloves helmets ) aswell as uniques such as sacred armors coronas spired helms diadems unique boots amulets and rings and a few weapons such as Dimensional shard and Colossus Blade, runes i only pick up if its Lem or above but when you are just starting out grinding your gear you will obviously pick up alot of other things which isnt mentioned in this post and its surely a good idea to just pick up everything until you learned about the majority of items in this game before just leaving things on the ground behind.
