Hi there. I´ve been playing this server for a while and I like it. First of all, great job.

However, I´ve helped to a friend of mine installing the game and the server´s files and when he executes the game´s launcher, the game guard icon dissapears and nothing happens. I know there are some post with this problem and their fixes, but we tried several things and they didn´t work:

1º Execute as admin/ Execute with Windows SP2 all exe files.
2ºAdd all the exe files to the Antivirus exclusions list.
    3ºWindows Defender, disabled.
    4º Execute on window mode

Even after trying all of this, nothing works. Could somebody help us?

Hello, what operating system is your friend using?
The fix that always worked so far in such scenario was simply reinstalling the game, that's exactly what I did whenever I offered remote assistance.
    - Start with removing any current diablo folders he may have in his computer
    - Download the portable client from here, create a new folder and extract all it's contents in there
    - Download our server patch from the website and install it inside of the game folder
    - Run the game as administrator, you could also create a shortcut of game.exe and set it to run in window mode.

He is using Windows 10. Antivirus 360 total security. All these steps have been followed. The only thing I can do is reinstalling and see what happens I suppose...

I received your PM and it seems you guys modified the original DEP settings so make sure that's left as default and set it for windows services only. Will reply there and take a look at it remotely if needed.

I inform that I got his game working. We used TeamViewer13.

I took control of his laptop. I installed the server patch. Then I configured each exe. After that, I joined the game to see symptoms which could lead me to the root of the problem. When I clicked on Battle.net, the game crashed and the typical UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: ACCESS_VIOLATION (c0000005) appeared. In that moment I knew what it must be done.

I went to the control panel, System, advanced settings, config and DEP. Then I marked the first option. So now, DEP applies with Windows programs and services only. He restarted his laptop.

Finally, I executed the game again and I went to Battle.net. It worked.

The problem was DEP because we both chose the second option, adding all game exe's as exclusions instead of leaving first option as default for essential Windows programs and services only

Thanks Gix for all the feedback you provided us. Let's see If I can bring someone more to the server in a near future .
