Diary of an old soul

Month 1



I just arrived in Sanctuary, a world I have only heard rumors about. My first stop was in a little camp that really needed help.
So I tried to help them and trying to strengthen myself. I always had a thing for the undead and tried myself in those teachings and I have to say... I was very successful.
I managed to raise a skelleton from a small creature. The skelleton transformed in a very unique way and when it died I could call another one forth and it looked always the same. Even when I managed to concentrate myself even harder and was able to call forth more than one. It is extremly exhausting and sometimes it feels, as if the souls of the skelletons are trying to take over my mind. Having out 5 was a milestone... it almost killed me and I felt a weird rage inside of myself but I couldn't stop. I am also now, while writing this journal, at a new limit... I have 9 of these creatures at the same time fighting for me. They are still trying to break free from my mind, at least that is the only thing I can imagine what they want in my mind... I am now studying in some old books I found about the mastery of those undead creatures and I even found some hand made notes about another way to summon skelletons and I even found some scribblings from something else. I can't say what that is but the scribblings are either from a dying one or someone in deep fear. I need to study more about this.

I even managed to help those Amazons and killed a giant demon. Her name was Andariel. I tried to raise something from her dead body, but the echo I got from there was so terrifying I instantly stopped and grabbed what I could find and got the hell out of those catacombs. Now I am on my way to a new region. It seems to get hot and sandy... We will see where this journey will lead me to.

I hope these notes I take will sometime be found and will help others to understand and see what I lived for.

For now I need to rest and collect my strength again.

Month 2

On the journey to Lut Golein I had a lot of time to study more. I finally understand how that ressurection of dead ones works. It is not that those creatures come directly back to life, there is some foul energy in this place that forms those dead creatures to skelletons. But that only works if the creature is just recently decayed. There must be another another form of life, which does exist either in our world or in some sort of "realm" in between our world and the world of the dead. I can't really tell that yet, but I have some theories which I need to test out. Thanks to understanding how those Skelletons are really formed, I might be able to alter the magic to create another form of those skelletons but before I try that I better study some more until I really know how all of this works.

Month 3

We arrived a few days back in Lut Golein. Those people are very unfriendly but it seems that they try to hide something. I am not sure what but I will find out what is up there. Deckard Cain though, he came with me, is a big help. He told me about some magic devices. If it is true what he said, it will be of big use for future traveling, since this world is unbelievebly dangerous.

Month 3 - Week 3

I found a way into the sewer. After some talking with the townspeople there seems to be some nasty creature down there, that threatens the city. Maybe if I find the source and manage to destroy it the people will be more friendly. We will see.

 

Month 3 - Week 4

I found the source of the problems. It was a giant mummy, with surprisingly high intelligence and not as "zombie-ish" as you would normally see them.
Interesting was the fact, he tried to take over my skelletons, but he was not able to and was taken apart quite fast.

Month 4 - Week 3

This desert is huge. I spent some weeks in the desert, trying to find some old ruins for some horadric device I heard of. Gladly I am not alone and that Amazon, which still shivers everytime when I am summoning my undead army. Without her company I might have gone mad, as those times alone can be more than hard.

Mont 6 - Week 2

The last weeks have been very hard. I searched some more ruins and finally found the horadric device Deckard Cain mentioned. I wonder what it is truely good for. Next week I will be back in Lut Golein and find out more. But what I can already say is that this device emerges an unspeakable old magic. I don't know if that should amaze or scare me, but I guess if that would be something to be afraid of, Cain would have warned me. But he was kind of quiet about this device... Writing these lines make me grin a bit... Deckard Cain and "quiet" are normally not words, you use together...

Month 7 - Week 1

Well, the travel took a bit longer than expected, due to sand storms and those porting devices not really well functioning.
But I now know what that device is for. Cain told me that this staff, and something I thought was an amulet, a weapon-head belong together, which could explain why I somehow kept them even though they are so weak. Normally those would never be parted, but the magic of some old Horadrim parted them. I guess Cain will explain later all about it.

Month 7 - Week 2

Cain and I spoke a lot and he showed me what that device is capable of and my thoughts and feelings about that device were right. The power of this device is more than I could have imagined. It is a cube shaped box. You can, if you know how, easily open it and even though is just about as big as a big mug, but you can easily fit bit items in it... Now comes the interesting part... When you put the right items in it and use a special magic on it, you can alter anything in it. I was able to raise the quality of some old broken gems to a perfect version they have been. I also managed to make an old worn out wand as new again with the power of teleporting it once had. It is as if the time of those items would be altered. But Cain mentioned that there is much more power in it. I will have to find out what this device can do more. It will be of HUGE help in my journey.

Month 10 - Week 2

I was invited into the Palace, but I should have known better, because there have been some serious problems. I hear my name and "Hero" more often together than I would like it. Do they really think I would do it for them?
Helping them is just a "side-effect" which is more of a burden as something I would want. The palace is infestet with monsters but I think there is more.

Month 10 - Week 3

The Palace hold some big magic inside. I found a teleport which led to the Arcane Sanctuary, which Drognan mentioned a few days ago.
This Sanctuary is ridiculous huge, I think it will take a while to find myself through here.

Month 10 - Week 4

This place is even bigger than I expected. It seems to be shaped like a huge cross and I found quite a lot of treasure here. The best thing I have found here, is the magic that fills the air in here. It is full of powerful secrets and somehow I think that this is more dangerous then the monsters. Something tries to get in my head but my will is strong. Some of those secrets led me to the knowledge of forming 2 different golems. One is made of clay and he does not quite some damage and I already wanted to destroy him, when I found out, that the clay sticks onto its enemies and slows them down. I guess I will keep it. The other golem is also interesting, as it is made of blood, my blood. It doesn't need much, so pain is bearable but the fun starts when he is fighting for me. When he attacks I start to feel always a bit more refreshed. I can't really tell yet what that is, but it seems as if his damage on an enemy does not just physical damage itself, but also to its enemies soul.

Month 11 - Week 1

I finally made it though the sanctuary and I seem to have been right. I found a diary which has been guarded by some sorcerer which has gone mad. Maybe his will was not as strong as mine.
The diary itself was a nice info about the surroundings and told me a secret of a hidden tomb. There seem to be quite a lot and only one is the real chamber. I am still struggling if I should search the others first... We will see. But at the moment I need to go back to Lut Golein and restock on some potions.

Month 12 - Week 2

It has been almost a year since I arrived here. And I learned more than I have ever imagined... My skills with those skelletons is near perfect, I think it won't take long until I fully evolved them.
Also my golem is stronger than before and it's quite a big help. And thanks to the informations of Cain I might have found another lesser evil... Duriel. I will see that when I find the Tomb. I don't know why but I am more amazed of the powers of Diablo and his minions... Here I am a single man learning to bend the power of life to my will, I am not even 200 years old and yet I defeated so much power... I somehow think that my power is somewhat related to Diablo... I need time to think.

Month 12 - Week 4

I entered the tomb and cleared it of its evilness. In a hidden chamber, that revealed itself with the help of the Horadric Staff, I truely found Duriel. His power was amazing, but he didn't have a chance against my army and my newly developed curse.
After killing him I found the archangel Tyrael, who was held captive by Duriel... Hearing his story about the prime evils confirm my thoughts about Diablo. I have to prepare for something big, it seems...
What I did not tell anyone is, that I took Duriels heart with me, it will help me developing new powers. Even though it's dead, it emerges an evil aura... I have to know what this exactly is...
