Hey Ladies and Gentlemen on this server,

    I‘ve got a question for y‘all :)
To cut it short: Is MF worth on this server? I‘m currently running a 512% MF Hammerdin-Paladin, but it hurts my dmg, fcr and ressistances a lot. With my normal Gear I‘d have 228% MF. I know that the good amount of mf is around 500%+ on vanilla server.

I hope someone can help me :) (yes I‘ve read the MF guide, but that sounded pretty general, cause it‘s a graph also used on the official server)

    Kaokitsu~

Search is useful because there are many threads about mf in the forum and it's important to have mf but how much depends from player to player. not even in vanilla doesn't exist best % mf, me and my friends all used around 300% or 400%, no need to pile as much as 500%+

I agree with @Fatty180 post here and I don't go more than 350-450%mf personally because the faster you clear the better chances you have so need to find a balance between fast clear and good mf without diminishing damage

Due to this server using custom rates for drops; I think many people choose kill speed over MF%. For example, when killing bosses(due to their edited drops), you are going to get many uniques anyways.
I have also written a guide that includes more MF info here if you'd like to learn more: MF Tips/Tricks/Info

Wasn't sure if he meant that guide or not, several on forums already. I personally use around 250%; although it should be noted there's still no functional MF% difference between here and BNET. The item ratio has been altered so that higher quality drops are more likely, but the MF% on character will still offer the same correlating benefits on top of that. Below are some examples of what is meant:

The ratios listed here are only part of the actual Item Drop Calculation. These examples are extremely generic and meant for illustrative purposes only. They do not reflect any applicable values on this server. The below examples use the graph shown in the guide for reference.
    0% MF on BNET
    Normal - 1:10
    Magic - 1:50
    Rare - 1:100
    Unique - 1:500

    200% MF on BNET
    Normal - 1:10
    Magic - 1:25 (+200% Effective MF)
    Rare - 1:67 (+150% Effective MF)
Unique - 1:500 (+100% Effective MF) <---Actual Odds would be lower than shown after Item Drop Calculation

    500% MF on BNET
    Normal - 1:10
    Magic - 1:10 (+500% Effective MF)
    Rare - 1:36 (+275% Effective MF)
    Unique - 1:286 (+175% Effective MF)
0% MF Here (Assuming 1/2 Drop Ratio)
    Normal - 1:10
    Magic - 1:25
    Rare - 1:50
    Unique - 1:250

    200% MF Here
    Normal - 1:10
    Magic - 1:13 (+200% Effective MF)
    Rare - 1:33 (+150% Effective MF)
Unique - 1:250 (+100% Effective MF) <---Actual Odds would be lower than shown after Item Drop Calculation

    500% MF Here
    Normal - 1:10
    Magic - 1:5 (+500% Effective MF)
    Rare - 1:18 (+275% Effective MF)
    Unique - 1:143 (+175% Effective MF)

So with the above examples, the same information will hold true here than in Bnet, with a small caveat*
A 500% MF goal is still perfectly acceptable in many cases, it will increase your unique factor roughly 75%. Having around 200% or so is also a good point to reach, as you get a noticeable increase in quality, usually very cheaply on the character equip switches needed.

*That being said, you can start "shoving out" Set and Unique items; making them less likely. Magic items Effective MF growth is linear, and normal items have no MF modifier. Factor in the modified item ratios here, as well as the item drop count of monsters; and it will be possible to start getting "too many" magic items. You can see in the last example with 500% MF, that although the Unique odds are indeed better (1:143 vs 1:250), the magic ratio is starting to become too low(1:5 magic vs 1:10 normal).

Keep in mind that the exact Item Ratios for this server will not be discussed, so use the above information with discretion.

not worth to have mf gear. imo. base mf enough - uniques drops alot and buy setpieces from others if need.
