My diablo 2 experiance!

im half new to this server. i played about three months, and it was fun!
the thing is: i played single player a lot, before i even knew that this server existed. it was an interesting and mysterious game, and even with all the "imperfections" - no high runewords - I enjoyed a lot. i just didnt know what was going to happen, and it kept me playing.
im not sure how can the rushing in the server stop... im not sure that even i can play untwinked, now after playing in server... and im coming to the point!
what do rich and experianced players usually do? runs. mf runs, baal runs, countess runs, is it fun? no. many very nice players also rush. i do too, and i can understand them- its nice to help other people.
the point of the game is having fun... after getting rushed to hell, usually players start to ask for equipment, and then they leave. some stay and start doing runs
I personally think that if we're not gonna play the game as it was intended to be, we shouldn't do countless countess and travincal runs- it defeats the purpose. i think that players should work hard to get good drops, while having fun and being concentrated in the GAME, not in the runes they want to get. that is actually what was going on in single player- i was running and slashing n hacking, and when i got the occasional unique it was very nice!
so my suggestion is to reduce boss drops, and increase mob drops. when doing the same boss every time like countess or trav, it gets boring. mobs however are really fun also, i think that uberdin smiters need to be un-ubered, because really... they make it too easy. i mean by making smite not leech, or something like that...
generally the problem im talking about is that when players see higher players with better things, they also want that, and it kinda ruins the fun, and they dont experiance the game and are expected to do boring runs. its the same in life- when you have a difficult mission you think about the solution, work hard, and in the end you're proud of yourself. but when you see someone else do it- your only thought is "how the hell am i supposed to do that?" how the hell am i supposed to get a Ber, not even talking about zod xD
im not saying that my solution is optimal- im saying that we all need to think about the solution, to make new players enjoy the game more, and we will too.
if people take this seriously, i can help in making changes- i know how to program in Java mostly, some C anc C++.

by the way- if i create a program that uses the Robot class in java-to print screen and move mouse and press keys, is it still illegal in diablo? i mean, as long as countess stays statistically too good to do other things- i might just make a program that will get to countess with sorc, and then i'll kill countess myself so it won't be a bot, but i wont have to concentrate in the game because it will walk alone... i could do other things in that half minute break

 

mmmm I don't get you. First off you rant about people NOT playing the game then you end by saying you want to BOT - that really does not make sense.

Ok lets forget that little bit of "Duplicity". Regarding the game play. I've been around D2 for more years than I can remember and I really do not get off by doing countless repetitive runs. Don't get me wrong I do do them at some stage but that only lasts till I find the specific item I'm looking for. After a Ladder restart I generally start off with Softcore and build several characters (at least 1 of each) then I hit the Classic Softcore doing the same. after that I'll move on to Classic Hardcore where I will actually race the Ladder (After all they are King and Queen). Finally I'll put all my efforts into Hardcore. My game never gets Boring, well ok I do have spells where I'll go off on a reading tangent for a few weeks or even months.

Regarding Gear and Rushing - I'm generally pretty tight. I'll mostly just "Enchant" low level players so they can level themselves (after all if they are not prepared to help themselves, why should I waste my time) and I'll avoid giving too much free gear, especially end game gear. The reason is I prefer for people to play. and finding gear is what D2 is all about.

Regarding the "Modifying" Mobs etcetera. I'm pretty certain that the server would prefer things stay as they are. Please also consider the Hardcore players. Or at least the people that would like to try Hardcore. Even I as an experienced HC player am on high alert when My Smiter ventures into Uber Tristram for the first few times. After all it has taken a shit load of work to gear and prepare him for the test.

Once I have fully kitted characters I start equipping my Ultimate character. The Auradin is easily one of the Most expensive characters to build. So yea there is a lot more to the game than just one character doing countless repetitive runs. Some people discover the game others just pass on through - that's just the way of it.

 

you're right, getting equipments is the fun in the game, and making good chars is also it. im not exaclt sure still, because getting good equips and rushing is kinda ruining the game, but its also fun.
about the program - i meant that i dont have strength to teleport all the way with lags that slow the teleport, and waste time on nothing. its not a BOT that will run all night, and will make me lose the ability to appreciate things like high runes, but it will just help me do the runs a little faster and efficient. no practical hacking with diablo 2 dlls.
