I have been farming Nili forever now and I have had a little over 200 mf for most of the runs, just over 125 for the first few and I was not finding anything so i bumped it to over 200 now... after 50+ runs I managed to find nothing at all worth keeping, a few low jalas, some low facets, and some crap rings are all I have managed so far... i don't know if this game just hates me or if I'm just horribly unlucky but seeing everyone else find items like griff, coa, wf, shard, and not being able to find any of them myself is a bit discouraging....


Can anyone help me out with an idea on how to get some better drops?

The ONLY reason I will ever farm Nillathack is if I'm hunting Keys. All my good stuff was found by pure luck while playing in the none conventional areas. Mausoleum, Pits, River, and several of the act 5 maps. The thing is that when you play those areas you also find the high runes. My MF was seldom above 100 and I found something of everything. Granted I'm away from the game at the moment. But fear not I will be back.

 

well i have dug around doing cows, chaos, and wsk for a while too so i guess i just need to grind out more a5 areas

 

Hash, it's pure luck, bro'. And by that I mean that you need the luck of getting the base item drop from Nihlathak; given the high unique drop rate, it will most likely turn gold. And, to get the base item, you simply do runs in large numbers (like hundreds at a time), to make probability work the way you want it to. This is only if you want him to drop you the goodies, but Coldet's suggestion is more fun prone - enjoy playing the game and, occasionally, the unexpected drop you're getting.

To put it another way, just pray that Nihl will choose to drop a diadem, a corona, a sacred armor, a dimensional shard, well, you get the picture. These are elite items, most of them with qlvl 84-85, of which even whites drop very rarely, not to mention uniques.

 

Well I have sorta given up on trying to farm for any elite items I just don't have the luck to get the good stuffs, I almost bet if I found a coa it would be the worst coa anyone has ever seen... so instead I have decided to start farming torches, at least that way I know I'm going to find one, its just a matter of when will I find a 20/20 pal or sorc torch that I can sell for a few much needed runes because I don't seem to have very good luck getting those either, btw is it normal to have only seen 1 ber rune drop in the last 3 months of farming cows, a1 pit, a2 tombs, chaos, and wsk because the highest rune I have seen drop in a long time now has been ohm and that was from the countess.

 

if you want to make runes pick up gems and cube gcs. then sell the life sks = profit.

 

i normally just sell 40 gems for vex when i get them, i cant run stings mh on my rig for some reason so idk what gcs to re-roll kuz i cant check the levels on them
