Solved Magefist doesn't work for Fire sorceress

So I've noticed that the "Magefist" unique item doesn't add anything to my sorceress' fire spells despite having the property "+1 to Fire Skills." If I have it equipped and check my fire spells, then drop it on the ground, then check my fire spells again, nothing has changed. The skill levels are the same. Is there anyway to fix this? Or is the item just trash on this server?

I have tried un-equipping the item several times. I have un-equipped it, placed it in stash/cube, logged out, closed d2, reopened the game, logged back in, created a game, and finally re-equipped the item. My skill levels don't change. I have Occy (+3), Spirit (+2), CoH (+2), Shako (+2), Mara's (+2), SoJ (+1), BK Wedding Band (+1), and Arachnid Mesh (+1) equipped, as well as a fire skiller and lightning skiller in inventory. I should have a total of +15 Lightning and +16 Fire, but I only have +15 to both. If everything is removed and placed in cube/stash, all skill bonuses are removed. If I only re-equip the Magefists, my Fire skill levels do not increase and turn from white to blue.
I upgraded the Magefists twice in the cube to the elite base item version, Crusader Gauntlets. Could that be the reason yours work and mine don't? Some bug with the cube recipe? I do meet the Strength requirements for them.
Edit: Also, in case it matters, I bought my Magefists from the shop to support the server... not sure if that could be the reason why.

 

this might sound like stupid or insulting question, but you do have some "hard" points in fire skill tree right?

 

Yes. I have 1 point in Fire Bolt, Warmth, Enchant, and Fire Mastery. I maxed Fireball, which is my secondary attack. Most of my points have gone into the Lightning Spells tree, where my main attack is Lightning. My other gear adds +15 to my Fire Spell skills, just like they are supposed to. The only item that doesn't seem to add its skill bonus is the Magefists. All of the other properties seem to work though. Un-equipping it and re-equipping it noticeably affects my FCR according to Sting MH, and my Defense also noticeably changes.

 

weird... did you try another pair of magefists?

 

I have not. I only have the one pair, otherwise I would have tested it and included the results in my findings. I'd be willing to let someone else try them on, and see if they experience the same bug with my pair. I'd also be willing to try on someone else's pair just to see if it works. I'm about to head to bed (3:38 am local time here), but I'll be on tomorrow.

So I joined a game with *s1ng0n and swapped pairs. He agreed that mine didn't work and were definitely bugged, and then I tried his pair of Magefists, which did work. Then we upgraded his pair in cube, and it still worked after both upgrades. We came to the conclusion that the bug must have been caused by the way the item is generated for the shop, since that was the only difference between them that either of us could think of.
