I've just tried running the game again, which used to run during the previous season and get that annoying error after I launch the..well Launcher. The issues I'm facing with this is that I can set up the europebattle and the game.exe files to Win XP SP2, but I don't have that option for the launcher itself and can only set it up to Vista, 7 and 8.
If I run the vidtest, the moment i gets to the glide3x and messes up my resolution, which, of course is something normal during the test I have to press CTRL ALT DEL and open the task manager in order to see the window where it is asking you to choose the 2d or 3d setting. Regardless of what I choose I still get the same error, which I have attached here. I have tried the fixes from the other topic, but none of them seem to make a difference. I have deleted the game, re-downloaded the whole thing, with the launcher and all and still the same problem.
I am trying to run this on Windows 11, which may be the problem, but can't confirm.
    Thanks.

Hey, I'm not sure if I have had your issue before, but will note what I noticed as my own mistake previously.
I did end up reinstalling many times before I realised clearing registry is also necessary for a fresh install. Next time you reinstall it make sure to also delete registry (from regedix) and double check you have deleted all outdated files.

The launcher doesn't need compatibility mode and neither Game.exe unless you get into compatibility issues. Also, why do you need to run D2VidTst.exe? First make sure the game is running fine, under window mode and go from there. PS: The C000000D error you get with D2VidTst can safely be ignored, that's caused by one of the latest Microsoft updates that's messing with some legacy software and games.

Run the Launcher.exe and check only the Window Mode parameter, then start the game. Additionally, check this thread https://forum.europebattle.net/threads/common-game-errors-and-fixes.532466/ and follow Step 3 and Step 5 as that's most likely where the issue is and remove any compatibility changes you've made for now.

Would that in any way delete registry files associated with the Diablo II Resurrected I have installed?

The only other option ticked on the launcher was to skip to battlenet, I've always played on -w. As mentioned above I already tried all steps in that topic, including 3 and 5, everything was set up as it should be by default.

It shouldn't if you follow the exact path mentioned in here https://forum.europebattle.net/threads/common-game-errors-and-fixes.532466/#post-881523 as they're separate.
So when exactly are you getting the C0000005 error? Right after pressing the play button to launch the game? You said you tried Step 5 but have you tried enabling DEP back and forth and restarting PC afterward? Because sometimes you do have to do that setting back and forth so it's correctly applied.

In this case, D2VidTst checks have no use here, as you're not using Glide Wrapper or DDraw/D2GL. PS: Can you also post a screenshot of the launcher settings, because I've sometime seen people checking the Advanced tab which is for development purposes.

The error was appearing after the anticheat logo disappeared, but now that I played with the DEP settings and restarted twice it has let me in. I think this can be locked now. Thanks!

Glad to hear Microsoft has always been a bit silly on this matter, hence the advice. Welcome back!
