So I've installed D2 using the link provided here, I extracted the game files from usabattle zip (however, some of the files refused to extract, said they couldn't so this might be my problem), and used the registry etc. I did all the steps to disable firewalls and UAC and all that, and the game works fine in single player but when I try to enter a multiplayer game room my game crashed with that crash exception 000005 or whichever, has anyone else encountered this problem? Or is it just because a few of the games files wouldn't extract for me?

    Hello @Sjoorm and welcome,

Those missing files that failed to extract are definetly the reason of your problem. What was the error?
Try using the .exe installer instead or try downloading the .zip archive again and see if you get the same result. Make sure to post an imagine with the error here so we can see it.

Right click on the game shortcut and go to properties. In the target line, add -w after the ". It should look similar to this:
    ...\Diablo II.exe" -w

@Joaiuda, it's not that. He claimed some of the files didn't extracted correctly, that's the problem.

Thank you very much, it was indeed an issue with all the files not being copied properly. Installer fucked it up, had to manually unzip. Thanks for the items btw Joe, too kind:)
