Introduction: Hi guys, I have noticed that quite a lot of people do not know what is the most efficient and effective way to craft different types of items. Therefore, I would like to share my knowledge with the community. I'd like to start with rings, as a lot of people do craft rings and they don't really know what is the "easiest" way to get a good ring. Easiest probably isn't the right word, as it definitely isn't easy. Crafting is always associated with a lot of luck. One can get a great crafted ring after just a few tries, while others might need hundreds of tries to get similar results. This guide will only help you increase the odds of crafting a ring with your desired affixes. Basics: For those of you who are not familiar with the fundamentals of crafting, this part will provide you with more information on whats what. To keep track of the most important levels involved in crafting rings, we will be making frequent use of the bellow mentioned abbreviations: clvl - character level, in this case the level of the character which is gambling, shopping, or crafting ilvl - internal level of magic item; the "input item level" Ilvl - internal level of crafted item; the "output item level" calculated by adding 1/2ilvl and 1/2clvl alvl - affix level of the crafted item; for rings alvl=Ilvl Tips: There are a couple if items that offer vendor discount: Gheed's Fortune (Grand Charm). It reduces all vendor prices by up to 15%. The second one is Edge Runeword ('TirTalAmn') It reduces all vendor prices by 15%. Both give you a 30% reduction of prices, which is very helpful when you gamble/shop for crafting. Its a good idea to make use of that price reduction if you are doing a lot of crafting. Blood Rings Crafting: The blood ring recipe will give you 3 fixed properties: + (1-5) To Strength; (1-3)% Life Stolen Per Hit; +(10-20) To Life. On top of the fixed properties, a crafted item receives 1-4 random affixes, depending on Ilvl (output item level). All you need to know is that the output level of your crafted item should be 71+ lvl in order to always get 4 additional affixes. Bellow is a list of the mostly desired affixes in a ring and their alvl (if you want a list of all affixes you can goole Diablo 2 affix level chart). (P) "Platinum" (alvl 22): +101-120 to AR (P) "Great Wyrm's" (alvl 37): +61-90 to Mana (P) "Rainbow" (alvl 56): All Resistances +8-11 (P) "Cobalt/Garnet/Coral/Jade" (alvl 18): Cold/Fire/Lightning/Poison Resist +21-30 % (S) "of the Apprentice" (alvl 5): +10 % FCR (S) "of Precision" (alvl 56): +10-15 to Dexterity (S) "of the Mammoth" (alvl 68): +31-40 to Life (S) "of the Lamprey" (alvl 77): 7-8 % Life Stolen Per Hit (S) "of the Vampire" (alvl 86): 6 % Mana Stolen Per Hit (S) "of the Titan" (alvl 74): +16-20 to Strength Although the highest alvl is 86 (6 % Mana Stolen Per Hit), it is not a very good idea to push the alvl that high, as it will result in some rings with 96 required character level. In most cases the second highest affix: 7-8 % Life Stolen Per Hit is not really helpful as well. Assuming that both the 6 % Mana Stolen Per Hit and 7-8 % Life Stolen Per Hit affixes are not that important for us, we can aim for 74 alvl. As the alvl=Ilvl when crafting rings, we should aim to craft a ring with Ilvl=74. However, as the best source of rings for crafting is gambling (resulting in ranging ilvl -5/+4 clvl), we should set 74 Ilvl as a minimum level. The Ilvl is calculated by the following formula: Ilvl =clvl/2 + ilvl/2 So if we gamble and craft rings with the same character our clvl should conform with the following inequalities: clvl/2 + (clvl - 5)/2 >74 clvl/2 + (clvl + 4)/2 >74 Thus resulting in a 77+ level character.. In this case character with 77 lvl, used for both gambling and crafting, will give us the best chance to spawn our desired affixes for a crafted ring. Using the same inequalities for a desired affix: "of the Vampire" (alvl 86): 6 % Mana Stolen Per Hit, will give us a character with a minimum 89 clvl. However, you should keep in mind that increasing the character level will lead to an increase of the possible affixes that can spawn, thus decreasing the chance for the other nice affixes to spawn. I hope this is guide is helpful, I would really appreciate your feedback. If you want I can also do a guide for Hit Power Gloves and Caster Boots, as most, if not all know what char lvl they need to be for amulets.
