Customization of Character Mod

I was thinking this:

Creating a Mod that customized the LOOKS!!! of Armors///Weapons//Helms//AND EVEN GLOVES ETC!!!!!!

This way - the actual mechanical system of play is untouched and the gameplay becomes enhanced aesthetically. I'm going so far as to say that there is a "design-window" embedded into the game similar to a 3D modeling software program. This game is all about expressing who you are over the internet!!! . It's so much fun to think about a custom-carving an axe, or EVEN a shield with your own personal EMBLEM on it!!! . I'm so down with it I am willing to work with Gix et. al. on creating this. This game is written in assembly correct?
