I do still play on bnet and I wanted to know if joining this server would delete those accounts on bnet because I thought I heard that it does for private servers.

You can play both the retail server and this server.

Make sure you create a copy of your d2 folder to another hdd partition so you can use it with our server patch_d2.mpq and check out the manual connect guide from our website. Just add an extra gateway that points to our server and set it as (Chosen) whenever you want to play here. When you want to switch back to the official server, open again the gateway editor and choose one of their realms. That's all.

Let us know if you managed to connect.

Was not able to connect. Downloaded the archive, took the contents of the USA folder and copied them to the D2 directory and overwrote that one file.

Added the gateway and tried to run the exes but I get the "D2Loader does not recognize this version of Diablo II. This build is only designed to work with Diablo II v 1.12." error. I tried the fix in the help topic of downloading the d2gfx.dll and putting it in the D2 folder but I still get the error. I don't have time tonight to look at it any more but I'll try again tomorrow. I'm running windows 7 don't know if it's an admin thing cuz D2 normally has to run as admin to work.

The d2gfx.dll should fix that error. Make sure you got the 1.13d patch by the way, not the 1.13c?

I suggest you to install diablo2 from scratch into a different folder, then apply the blizzard's 1.13c patch and then our patch.

OK, I assumed 1.13c was the most current patch. Didn't realize it was 1.13d. That must be the mistake, I'll try again.

Damn. So I downgraded to 1.13c and it was loading but I was unable to connect to battlenet even though the gateway was set (chosen) to usabattle.net

Say "unable to identify application version". When I quit the game I get that "big error" message so I tried that fix with DEP by adding all the exes in the diablo 2 folder but it didn't work. I feel like I missed a step. Is there a patch to install for your server because I never ran an exe to install a patch for usabattle.net. I just copied all the files from the realm patch archive and put them into the d2 folder.

The gateway is d2.usabattle.net. The manual connect guide from here should point out just fine.
As long as you overwritten the files from the realm patch you don't need to download the installer.

Also I suggested you in my above post to install diablo2 from scratch into a different folder, then apply the blizzard's 1.13c patch and then our patch, simply because downgrading will certanly cause some issues here.

The gateway was correct, I was just shortening it for my reply.

D2 won't let me install it again now that it's installed. I was trying to avoid a re-install but I guess I'll try that next.

Did a fresh install and same issue. "unable to identify application version" when I try to join "battlenet" and then "big error" when I quit Diablo.

Are you running it into compatibility mode and as administrator ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KywcBR5eXJI

Google fixes reffers to the same fixes that we listed here so if any of those are not working then the game files got corrupted.

OK I forgot to set the .exe to run as admin after reinstalling. Works now.
