My game crashes quite a bit, and this seems to happen more when I use the (non-integrated) MapHack. I just did a fresh install of the game, reapplied patches, and I'm still having the game crash. The crash will usually happen about 5 seconds after I enter a new game. All files are running on administrator, XP SP2 compatibility, and I am using Windows 7.

    Diablo II Error
    Halt
    Location: Line #193
    Expression: Unrecoverable Internal Error 6f8574ae

I haven't tried the integrated maphack yet since I haven't figured out how to get it to work, yet.

I can confirm, it still happens when using the integrated maphack.

    Hello..
    Read me notepad inside folder.
Integrated MapHack v1 uses files directly inside of the root folder while Integrated MapHack v2 uses a separate folder to store maphack files.
    - If for some reason Integrated MapHack v1 doesn't work for you then try to use Integrated MapHack v2.
    - Simply extract the contents of the maphack folder you want to use inside your Diablo II game folder, overwrite all files and start the game without running any additional maphack.
    - Feel free to add your own d2hackmap.cfg in order to use different hackmap settings.
    ET COMPATIBLE MODE TO WINDOWS XP SP2 / WINDOWS 7 FOR EuropeBattle.exe , Loader.exe and Game.exe
SET BOTH FILES TO START WITH RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR

ADD THE FOLLOWING EXECUTABLES: EuropeBattle.exe , Loader.exe , Game.exe and TDAgg3.dll / OR THE ENTIRE Diablo II FOLDER INTO THE SCAN EXCEPTION LIST OF YOUR ANTIVIRUS IF YOU CAN' START THE GAME.

SOME ANTIVIRUSESS MAY TRIGGER A FALSE-POSITIVE ALERT. IF NOTHING WORKS, UNINSTALL YOUR ANTIVIRUS COMPLETLY AND REBOOT PC THEN TRY LAUNCHING THE GAME. YOU MAY USE A DIFFERENT ANTIVIRUS IF EVERYTHING WORKS FINE.

SOME OPERATING SYSTEMS WILL OFFER YOU THE POSSIBILITY TO UNBLOCK THE APPLICATION FILE SO DON'T FORGET TO DO THAT FOR ALL 4 FILES: EuropeBattle.exe , Loader.exe , Game.exe and TDAgg3.dll

IF YOU GET ISSUES ON STARTING THE MAPHACK START IT WITH RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR AND KEEP IT SEPARATE FROM YOUR DIABLO II FOLDER LIKE ON YOUR DESKTOP OR ANY OTHER FOLDER

Lets and try this again or i can help you on skype too

I've gone through all of that. Both the integrated and stand-alone maphacks work fine, but when using them the game crashes, always at the start of a game, at random. Sometimes I can make 4-5 games before it crashes, and other times it will crash every other game I make on BNet.

When I am NOT using the maphack I've made as many as 20 games without crashing, just to test.

I'm not using an Anti-Virus at the moment.

The game still crashes even when I remove Sven's wrapper, using both integrated and regular maphack. I'm going to keep trying.

Are you running the game in full screen? If yes then go ahead and use window mode and make sure both mh and the game are runned as Administrator.
Also what operating system are you using?

I'm using Windows 7. The game has been crashing in both windowed and full screen. Not as much in windowed, but it does still happen.

I'm using CDs. LOD is in my drive right now. I'm not using a cracked version of the game.

Windowed mode wouldn't be so bad if there were a way that I could adjust the Gamma in the graphics settings. It's greyed out for me.

i doubt it because of that, ive been playing cracked d2 for over 15 years, havent got that error yet.

you could try to copy all files from cd's into your folder, overwrite all so that it looks like you have cd in... thats how i did it to get past keeping cd in pc all the time, or mount images with daemon tools if you have them as .iso... i usually install game from .iso images and before starting to play i use crack's and copy all on every image cd into d2 folder, otherwise it will ask me for play cd or expansion cd. with this i havent had any problems last 10 years of playing.

It crashes maybe 1 out of 15 games in windowed, which is significantly better than the 1 out of 5 in full screen.

The Gamma option isn't even enabled. The slider is faded or greyed out.

    Everything is too dim.

My Contrast control has no effect, and the Gamma controls don't work, just to clarify. I've tried everything I could think of to get them to work properly with no luck.

I see you keep double post / triple post which is against the forum rules. Make sure you use the edit button instead from now on otherwise you might get temporarily restricted from posting.

I'll make sure I do next time.

Any clue why the Gamma option is disabled in windowed mode? It did this on my last machine as well, about a year ago. But on that machine full-screen worked just fine. The brightness slider works, but has no effect. -- I searched around for some solutions, but I couldn't find anything other than this: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5626187917 , which leads me to this (for Windows 7) http://www.neowin.net/news/main/09/01/07/windows-7-calibrate-your-display , but the article isn't there anymore.

Edit: Even after Color Calibration & GFX Settings were altered, it's still a bit dim. The Gold color for unique items is also very dull. It's not vibrant like it is in full screen.

You are using -w mode so you use desktop composition thats why you can't change gama or contrast in game. Also try to study notepad with errors in game directory u might find what makes game to crash.
