Hey I've only just come across EuropeBattleNet after searching why D2 was quiet online (reinstalled a few days ago). So this place seems really good.

Just having an issue though, after executing europebattlenet, gameguard loads and then once it disappears nothing happens.

    how do I fix this?

    regards

    Hello @Martyitus and welcome aboard

When requesting support make sure to provide us as many details as possible starting with your operating system, antivirus software that you are using and the issue you encounter (as you already did). As @TimmyDeezNuts posted, first make sure to follow our install guide and everything on that page (if you are using bitdefender pay extra attention to our detailed explanation available on the same page), additionally follow this thread where we mentioned the most common errors in this game and how to fix them. You may also navigate into your game folder and try to run a different executable (as administrator) such as Game.exe, EuropeBattle.exe or Loader.exe and see if you can launch the game.

I am using Avast free edition.

I attached my stats also. I've tried everything I think.

    Thanks

Try running in compatibility mode with XP SP 2 , if you are using a newer operating system. Disable your AV for 10 minutes, or whatever was the lowest value, reboot your computer and try again. You can try deleting the AV , if disabling does not work, reboot your computer again, and then try. That way if it works, you will know where the problem is coming from. Then you can try things like adding the executable to the exception list of your antivirus.

Have also done that. Do you reckon I should re install with the original d2 lod discs and then apply the custom patch?

You are obviously not following the steps correctly, as in the guide is already stated that the original files should not be used. There are very rarely errors that have not been addressed before, so make sure you have followed all the troubleshooting instructions. Also, deleting and disabling your antivirus software is not the same thing and a reboot must be performed, otherwise it may, and it most causes it will , cause the same issue. You never said what kind of an operating system you are using, but if you have ticked Run As Administrator and are running under Compatibility mode, your problem is most likely caused by some of the software you are using.

Sorry, didn't see that it was included in the picture. If everything is correctly installed, patches applied, on windows 7 you do not need to run it in Compatibility mode, just run as Administrator. If you tick both boxes it might cause issues. But I'm pretty sure some software you have installed is causing your problems.

I uninstalled it and used the installer from this website, didn't use any discs to install. I will just keep trying, everything seems right to be fair.

I've sorted it, it's now running but there's bits of green in the colouring, maybe it's the resolution

@Martyitus, glad to hear. How did you fix it? Post here so others can read too in case they face something similar.
As for the "green colouring" bits, we can't see what you see unless you attach an image of that.

The "Loader" application worked for me, the others didn't.

The colour is sorted too it was just a resolution problem.

I've registered, got online with a character and now I can't join or create a game, the door comes up but then it just goes back to the channel. I've tried the patcher but doesn't seem to work.

    EDIT:

Nevermind I can finally create and join games! super

looking forward to playing again after 9 years !!!

So the solution was given in post #3
Most likely you had to add "-w" and run the game in window mode, which is what Loader.exe does by itself.
