high ping

    hey im new to this game.
    well, i started to play and i realised that high ping ( 500-3000 ). im sure its not my internet because normal battle net server works with 32 ping.

    is there anything i can do? else i have to leave this game without really playing it.

    it doesnt make sense for me to play with that high ping. its unplayable and boring, too.
    maybe thats the reason why there are not many players.

    You have lag when play or just have that high ping withtout having gameplay problems ? Because i have that ping too but i dont have gameplay problems. So i think that is not the real ping.

    i dont have problems with my pc.

    as i said, on europe battle.net i have a ping of 16-32 and on the privat server my ping is very high. its a sever issue i think.

    The realm is hosted in the US! Why? Because EU sucks on ddos protection. We're working on a solution to have an EU realm as well. Obviously this isn't cheap and donations will also be required. We've sustained the server for 7 years but we cannot sustain two of them on our own especially since a windows license is needed to host a D2 private realm and the license itself costs $30-$40/month outside of the server costs and ddos protection.

    Its not a server issue, it's about distance so you should be fine with 100-200 ping since you're not the only EU player around.

    You get 32ms ping to europebattle.net because we use cloudflare and when you ping or visit the website, our CDN picks the closes location to yours and since cloudflare has tens of servers all around the globe they should have one in Germany as well, probably in Frankfurt.


    Also keep in mind that ping inside diablo is different so a 200-300 ms has pretty much no problem at all. On 500+ indeed you may feel a slighty delay.
    Yet again, if you experience high issues then it's on your end. Our hosting company and the d2 dedicated server has top notch BGP providers.

    dont get me wrong. the server is good but im familiar to the bnet servers and there are much more people (other thread where i posted) and also my ping is better.
    and ofc i cant compare the bnet server to this one because they are different. now i played some more and i can live with the lags. i prefer this server to the bnet server because here are no bots and the people are very nice. also i didnt want to blame you, it was just a suggestion where you could work on.

    and im sorry for bumping the other thread, i didnt check the date.

    Then go to bnet. Maybe you don't realize this is a private server which guess what: it has a lot of players from official because seems we are doing a better job than them in catching cheaters which is the exact reason why you are playing.

    Also, as i have said we will be launching an EU realm pretty soon and your latency will be around 20-30ms

    okay im fine with that. and yeah thats the main reason why i play here and not on the bnet. its more fun to play without bots and ill-affected people. here are no bots(i didnt see any) and very friendly people.
    the only thing i really hate is the ping because in baalruns i dont get any items :p (which will change with the europe server)
    but i can live with it because for items i can do privat mf runs.

    and i know this is not the bnet, i didnt say that i want it to be like the bnet, just the ping could be better. the gameplay here is much better than on the bnet and thats enough reasons for me to stay here.
