    Hello,

I recently got interested in playing Diablo 2 again, only to remember that the servers had been taken down. Now I am investigating if it's possible to run DB2 on my mac.

I'm not really sure how to set up a private server connection, but most of the downloads / installers are .exe files, which my computer cannot read. Is this server Mac compatible? I'm hoping that there is someone experienced with set up that can point me in the right direction. I have the original disks and have the game installed on my computer, but don't have the expansion pack. Will I need to go out and purchase that as well?

I'd really appreciate any help that you can offer, thanks for your time.

d2 can install on mac but as far as the .exe installers and such not working for you, you may just need to use the manual install guide, it just involves changing out a .dll file for the server patch and a registry change for the server ip

if you dont have disks you may need to look for a mac os direct play version of the game or get some iso files of the disks to install off of
i have never tried to play it on mac but a few of my friends payed on the blizz servers on mac a few years back so you should be alright

You can play DII on mac but you won't be able to use loaders for example.

Once you have installed DII + LoD + 1.13c patch from blizzard which can be found here, download our .zip patch and replace the patch_d2.mpq
Next step in order to connect to our server is to edit your registry files, manually and add a new gateway or replace existing ones with one of our two ip addresses: d2.usabattle.net or d2.europebattle.net

    Let us know the progress.

What are loaders? Ideally I would be able to make sure that the servers can connect and function before I go out and buy the expansion pack, but it's not too expensive so it's not a big deal.

Is the patch that I need to download Diablo_II_LOD_1.13c_(Carbon).zip? Are there other links in that list that I need to download?

I put the "Realm Patch" downloaded folder into my Diablo II Folder for the application, which I believe is the 1.13c that you are talking about. I can see patch_d2.mpq in both the UsaBattleNet and EuropeBattleNet folders, how do I replace it?

Are these [http://europebattle.net/d2/manualconnect] the instructions for replacing the IP Addresses? If so, the editor tool that is recommended is an .exe file, so I'm not sure how to manually edit registry files.

I'm not very fluent in tech-speak so it'd help me out a lot if you guys could ELI5 and walk me through this. I'm very new to editing files.

Thank you for your help and quick responses though, I really appreciate it.

The simple v1.13c patch is the one you need so ignore that (Carbon). http://i.imgur.com/C08mxIt.png
To replace the .mpq patch extract it to your diablo 2 folder or drag and drop it inside the install folder. Overwrite that file.

As for registry editing MAC doesn't have "regedit" like Windows does so download this MAC Gateway Editor
(I have also updated the website with this link just in case the above one doesn't work)
