Not so AyCee MagiC

Hi there! AyCeeMagiC here , I'm supposed to be a pure blizz sorc(AyCee = Icy), but hell mode, just made my life...well...hell, so now i'm a blizz/baller only until baal drops that essense(I used my skill reset recklessly). I started playing a few weeks ago or maybe a month now? But was a bit too busy to even introduce myself and play consistently. I used to play ragnarok online(simple graphics and tons of things to do) and after quitting for more than 2 year or so, here i am now playing Diablo 2 , I enjoy farming boss/rare cards in ragnarok like a mad man, and I remember the excitement I get when that 0.1% drop rate finally kicks in. Now I get to experience that same feeling in Diablo 2 over and over again but a with a bigger range of things to farm.

I'm now trying to understand ubers and started to store equipment for my future smiter(Where's the best place to drop HoZ?) , as well as building my sorc in the process. I know there is still a lot to learn about the game, but i'm getting there. Sorry for the long post, This community and forum is awesome. I hope i can blend in well.

 

Hey, welcome to the community! A single element caster without an infinity merc can be tough in Hell due to all the immune mobs. I've found a couple HoZ from Meph/council I believe, I have extras as well as green Baal essence. I can give you both free, /w me in game at *TimmyDeezNuts

I see, so infinity is really like the play maker for running a single element caster, changing now would limit my farming routes, but can i still take you on your offer?

 

Hey, dude. Unlike Light sorcs, the cold skill using ones do not benefit as much from Infinity, since most cold immunities in the game cannot be broken by the Conviction aura, that's where Cold Mastery comes in play. If you decide to switch back to pure Blizz or Frozen orb, better go with Insight if you often find yourself out of mana or something else like Obedience (40%CB) or Eth Reapers toll so your merc can deal with the monsters that you can't kill. Cold sorcs are great to start with, but are just not the best all around choice for a farmer in the long run since they can't handle some areas as fast as other builds unless they are gozu geared. If you want to play a sorc and have enough wealth accumulated to buy Infinity go for lightning, it can farm any area in the game izi pizi lemon squeezy. Hybrid is ok for starters, farm with it until you feel ready to switch to a cookie cutter build.

Yes, I've definitely noticed that most sorcs with infinity on their mercs are lightning sorc, I'm already considering switching to lightning, if luck is on my side, I'm also watching out for drops like eth giant thresher, i already have 2 eth cv with me(just need to do that eth bug thing), but I've seen post that giant thresher is better because of the attack speed? Even though my name doesn't fit well with my build, it surely eases everything i need to farm more efficiently.

There is no bug for eth polearms here, just socket what you got and use it. CV gets 4sok from Larzuk so it's good for Insight, CA/GT/Thresh are good for Obedience, but eth GT and Thresher are kinda rare so it's ok to use CA for it. With CV/CA your merc will need either 56 or 89 ias and with GT/Thresh it'll be either 42 or 75 ias. You'll hit the lower breakpoints without a problem so, whatever you go with is ok for now.
