Solved patch 1.14

Hello.I have Lod 1.14 installed since i am currently playing on Bnet.I would like to start playing here with a friend of mine who does not have the original game cd keys.I would like to ask if it is possible to play on this server since my game is already patched to 1.14.Is it compatible with your servers? Will you make your servers compatible with 1.14?

No, you must download our server patch. Our server is currently running patch 1.13.

Well i thought of that but the installer recognizes the game as already installed.The 1.14 patch doesn't change much (probably the fix is for some dupe bug or something) and has introduced a few bugs (disappearing icons and inventory of henchmen).Are you planning to update your server as well or will you remain on 1.13c? Is a valid bnet cdkey required to play on this server?

We are staying on 1.13c and no need to have an original bnet CD-key, always welcome to play at the best private server around mate.

 

The executable patches of Diablo are made in a way that they cannot downgrade to a lower game version - this means that you can't run a regular 1.13c patch .exe file if you currently have 1.14a installed. Try using the .zip version of the realm patch and overwrite all your existing files in the Diablo II folder. Make sure you back up all the necessary files before doing so just to make sure you can log in to battle.net again - this should do the trick.

Also, the changes in 1.14a are so insignificant that I see no real necessity for people to waste time adjusting the realm patch to 'fit' this new version. I have Windows 10 and can manage to set everything up quite nicely on version 1.13c - it's just a bit more clicking than on older systems.

 

I really hope 1.14 isn't JUST adding some new graphic and mac support. Usually it's 1.14a, then b, the c is final release.
If it's no update with new items or some new event, why should we even consider updating...?

 

( some new items/runewords would have been nice after all these years...
