idk if anyone else has this problem, but ive been trying to fix it and have no other idea what to do
    i have followed the steps;
installed d2, installed patch, installed the europebattle.net installer, and ran the .reg file
ive also tried doing it manually with the gateway editor but i still get the error message.
anyone have any clues to solving this? pls help

You get that error when you try to run the loader? Can you launch the game from the default diabloII.exe ?

err sorry, its when i click connect to battle net, and it says "Checking Version", and the message pops up.
so i reinstalled it, and restarted my computer, but now everytime i click connect to b.net it starts patching. ( i have already installed LOD 1.13C before this happened )

The game seems not to be patched correctly then.

Uninstall and make sure you delete the remaining files of your Diablo II (including any cloned folders that you might use for another D2 server)

Try reinstalling the game on a different HDD/SSD partition by following the next steps.

    1. Install Diablo II
    2. Install the expansion LOD
    3. Download the blizzard 1.13c patch that is listed in our website and patch the game
    4. Download our server patch installer and select your Diablo II installation folder.
    5. Run the loader as administrator. Mouse 2 > Run as administrator

Also, you have not specified what is your OS so make sure you post that too.

If you installed 1.13C, not anything else, and it still patches, it is most likely that your D2 client is still connecting to Blizzard's battle.net (official D2 servers), where the auto patch updater takes your version to 1.13d. Try following the instructions in Gix's previous post or simply adding the EuropeBattleNet server to your D2 server list, using bnet gateway editor (don't forget to SET IT AS DEFAULT, otherwise it will still connect to official bnet - which is set as deafult - and patch to 1.13d).

Come back and post if this fixed your issue.

is there something wrong with the EuropeBattleNet.reg file?
im currently trying both manual and automatic ways to install and when i run the .reg file, EuropeBattle.Net doesnt appear on my server list.

(now im getting the "we got a big error" message again after i've tried connecting to b.net server )

You should use the d2loader that is packed in the server archive (together with the server patch and don't remember what else). Apply compatibility settings for XP SP2, since you're running Win7 (details on how-to in an older post in the same section), Run as admin and you should be good to go. It solved my similar problem, so I guess it should fix yours as well.

Don't forget to say thank you if it helped.

Run the game as normal until you find a solution. The "we got a big error" message comes from the loader.
Also make sure net framework 4 is installed, nowdays most programs depend on it.

To me it looks like you have lots of messed registry files and probably plenty of undeleted cache files so you might try a soft that cleans and fix registry files or even perform a complete OS reinstall.
