Hello. Post a screenshot with the error and mention your in-game account name too.
Have you tried restaring your computer?

Use the forum's EDIT button, don't triple post if you want to add fresh information to your last post.
You can download and install something like LightShot which will capture and upload screenshots automatically upon pressing the PrtSc key on your keyboard, then you can paste here the link it gives you.
Anyhow, that error has nothing to do with the GameGuard, are you sure that's even being mentioned in the error dialog? I'd say go ahead and perform a clean game re-install then apply back our server patch so you're able to create and join games, besides if it was working fine earlier then something must have changed lately in your PC and caused that error.

I apologize I will try lightsource as soon as my laptop is recharged. I had gotten it off a friend and it came with bitdefender, could that be a part of the issue. I will post screenshots asap.

There could be multiple reasons of that as a simple google search of the error you're getting explains it ; bitdefender is one of them and mostly likely the cause.
    1. The error could pop-up because you installed it under a protected folder by Bitdefender so you either move the game folder or you permit/remove protection of the entire \Documents\ folder in Bitdefender
    - Extract again or move the portable game folder into D:\ or in case you only have one partition then leave it in C:\Games\ or so but not inside Documents or Program Files folders
    - Turn off the antivirus completly or uninstall it and try again, then you'll know for sure if Bitdefender is causing this.
    2. Turn off UAC permissions by following the instructions from this thread http://forum.europebattle.net/threads/fix-diablo-ii-common-errors.532466/
    3. Run the executable files as administrator and with XP SP2 compatibility as instructed on our website

I removed bit defender as it was proving to be an issue to male an exception. Any better defense that IS compatiable? Lol

Alright, I just saw you in-game so now we know for sure Bitdefender was causing that.
I'd say go ahead and reinstall bitdefender but first move your game folder into C:\Games or D:\Games if you're not that technical regarding AV options and such.
The new bitdefender version has a new feature that automatically protects several default folders from ransomware infection (all antiviruses have it nowdays actually). As long as you either permit or have the game installed in a different folder that's not auto-protected by bitdefender you'll be good. Just pick a different folder for your games, except C:\Users because that's usually standard folder that most antiviruses will block/protect from being accessed without permission.
