Announcement Diablo II Ladder Reset - 27 October 2023

On top of what @milenskipln suggested through using DDraw, I shall also mention that we are currently testing a new graphic engine that is capable of running the game at 60FPS. With that being said, if you were thinking of some D2R graphic-alike improvement, that unfortunately is not going to be possible nor legal for that matter.

 

So don't use 3rd party tools then, there are plenty of people who use glide-wrapper or ddraw and that's exactly what the new graphic engine is: a better ddraw which is not going to make any notable difference in terms of CPU usage but if you mind some single digit increase or got some PC built in the '90 then you may choose not to use it, simple as that. The game itself being limited to 25 FPS has nothing to do with CPU usage either as almost every computer nowadays is already capable to handle more than 25 FPS, the only difference takes place when your computer drops below that 25 FPS.
I'm not following the GameGuard "CPU-hunger", it literally has a lower usage than most of your windows idle processes (personally getting 0.3% right now) but feel free to send me a PM with a screenshot of what you're getting as you most likely look at the wrong information again as you did in this thread and you didn't expand the Diablo II game process itself.
