Also - just as a recap of what happened with the error code (if that can be of any help to the rest of us):

Gix joined remotely and made a completely new install (fresh out of zero). We did tried to break it, and managed, using the Glide, however I never really wanted to go fullscreen so switched the Launcher to -w only (hint here, you can maximize the window from the small rectangle in the upper right corner) - which, for me is JUST PERFECT.
