I have tried a number of hireling builds for my CE Necro, because I needed it to kill as fast as possible and not melt bodies. The build that I found did the best damage overall is a slightly modified version of the build he mentioned. Treachery is used to reach the higher IAS frame, but it adds a half attack or something to every second, and on most of the builds he doesnt need as much time to kill it. With fortitude it will do better damage on minions with lower hp ( If he attacks something that has 100k hp, better IAS will definitely output more damage ) , but I used Treachery on mine, because of the Chilling armor from Fortitude. Anyways, the build goes - Infinity, Guillames Face, Fortitude, Crafted belt with open wounds, Laying of Hands ( Very important, 350% damage to demons, it makes a huge impact on boss killing , and monsters labeled as Demons , Highlords Wrath, Raven frost, Gore Riders. It yields 90% CB and does a slightly lower damage on minions not labeled as Demons, but 3.5 times more damage on them , ubers and bosses. Of course, on my necro I replaced Fortitude with Treachery and Raven Frost with a Carrion wind, but on other classes it is fine as it is. I have tried about 10 different builds and this one had the overall highest damage of them all. It was a close call with some and a lot better than others.

So yeah, basicly, I can't do much about those few monsters that remain Light immune? :D
Thanks for all the info peeps, much, much appriciated. If you like, I can post an update about my gear this evening (at work atm).
Will also screen shot my merc's gear.
Phoenix seems a tad expensive, so will stick with those yummy Full Rej pots Akara makes so godly.
Also found a perf (5/5 die) light RBF yesterday evening, so still need to socket this into my Eschuta's! :)

    Greetz and cya'll tonight

Some players still believe that the "extra gold" stat is increasing the gold drops and decreasing the item drops, but it's just a myth and that's not really how EG works. If that was the case why all players participating in MFO's keep a Gheeds GC in their inventory? I never saw an actual proof that EG is messing up your drops/mfing, but people keep spreading that rumour from years. Best thing to do is to test it and decide for yourself.

Phoenix on a sorc is not needed at all, with 1 point in warmth and all the +skills from items I almost never use pots, except when I get poked by a mana drainer or tp in the middle of a strong mob, which should rarely happen if you know how to position yourself.

Btw, nobody metnioned Occy for a weapon option here, but it's awesome for mf sorcs. Vigor aura, +3 all sk, 30fcr, 20 vita, 20@ rez, 50mf and an open socket- I mean, c'mon, what more do you need? With 10 lgt sks you already have enormous damage and eschutas is not that good to be honest. Also war travs are the boots to go when mf'ing.

    Cheers.

P.S. CoH is great, no alternatives, unless you are going for big mf (skullders), 200fcr (viper) or a fancy build (TMs).

    Hi.

I am also planning on turning my high-MF, but slow killing sorc into a lightning sorc. I do have most of the equipment listed in this thread, however, I do need both Griffons and Infinity.
My question is: What will give me the highest initial damage boost; Infinity on merc or Griffons on me?
Also, there seems to be a discussion on CoH+Hoto/Eschuta vs. Vipermagi and Crescent Moon. What are your thoughts on that?

    Cheers :)

Hey first of all u gonna need infinity because infinity is a killing machine runeword its damage and most useful thing is conviction aura its not lvl1 conviction aura its lvl13 something.

From my point of view i would go for chains of honor and hoto build rather than vipermagi and crescent moon because the hoto gives pretty decent resist all bonuses and all skills 3.

Get the Infinity first, look for one in eth base, price is about 2ber for a mid one. After that you can move on to purchasing Griffon and whatever else you need. About the armour/weapon combo, it depends on what you can afford. For starters an Um-ed Viper will do the job, but CoH beats it statwise. The weapon is usually personal preference, it can be Eschuta, Hoto or Occy- just whatever you find working the best in your case.

    Thanks.
    I have around 3 ber's.
Say i spend 2 bers on infinity - Would it then be better to spend the last ber on skillers and torch, or should i save for Griffon? :)

Torch is a must, even a random one for Lo, if lucky Ohm. The skillers are not your highest priority in the moment, although they definitely boost the damage significantly. If it was me, I would buy torch+infi now and start saving for the other items (CoH/Griff/skillers).

    Cheers.

    Heya,

I agree very much with Botlike.

    Gratz on infi! :)

No stay with shako for a while, and get some sks, IMHO they increased my dmg much more than my griff.

Get about 5ish, start with clean ones, then maybe look around for griff.

After that, it's all fun 'n games ;)

Griff boosts the damage alot, you just don't see the numbers in the stat screen going up, it works in a slightly different way than skillers. Just a note.

Anyway, I have to agree with FLK that sticking with Shako and purchasing a few skillers is your only option for the moment, since you don't have enough runes to invest in a Griff, which can be costly.

BTW the value of that Infinity is more than you invested in writing it, because of the awesome roll. I personally would consider selling it for like 3 Ber easy and making/buying another one, that way you'll have 1 Ber profit which can be spent on skillers or CoH for example.

    Cheers.
