    I looked through a couple of pages of search results for "chipped" and didn't find anything so I am asking here.
    Does anyone buy chipped gems? I understand they have some transmuting recipes they are part of, though I am not sure if anyone uses them.

    You can use 1 chipped gem in cube to make a perfect gem.
    There is a big market for perfect gems.

    Hi there @starxplor any quality gem can be upgraded to the next level until it reaches perfect quality. I assume players tend to buy only perfect as it saves them time. If they had to buy non-perfect gems the price would be different from the perfect ones like around Ist or so and would make this whole process not worth doing it.

    Yes, I know you can upgrade gems. But since you cannot downgrade them, and there are recipes that use specifically chipped gems, I was wondering if anyone bought them without upgrading to pgems. I already upgrade everything not a chipped to pgem, just wondering if there might be a niche market for chipped gems I can slip into.

    There is no such market, as far as I am aware. If anyone should need a chipped gem for a recipe, they can always farm one in a normal game, act 1-2. And if they ask for 1-2, they would go for free, so best upgrade your chipped stock and sell them as perfects, along with the rest. It's pointless to stash them,

    Most commons and frequently used recipes have perfect gems in them and some of the recipes have been removed and replaced with better craft methods like runes for example
    One rune can be downgraded or broken into two lower runes with the following mentions:
    Zod => Cham + Jah
    Cham => Jah + Ber
    Jah => Ber + Sur
    Ber => Sur + Sur
    Sur => Lo + Lo and so on.
    Every rune up to Ber can break into two lower level runes.

    Two of any same level runes => upgrade to next level rune
    Example: EL+EL => ELD and so on.
    You can find all the information on Custom Features
    The amount of recipes that use non-perfect gems are rarely or never used. @sphinx25 is right, there is no such market for non-perfect gems.
    Cheers.

    I am guessing my idea of chipped being valuable is from back in the day on bliz servers. I have seen the updates (and use the rune upgrade and downgrade paths), so that is cool.
    Thanks all for the updates!
