Light sorc equip question

Hi all!
Another noob question incoming...
Right now i run with ocolus (ist) and shako (ist) for a total of 257 magic find.
I think the best items for light sorc are eschuta and griffon.
I have found an eschuta +3 skill +18 light dmg... if i equip this,my paper dps for my light dmg goes from 5-29k to 6-29k... and i lose ar and 80% mf (50 if i socket ist)
I don't have a griffon, but if i equip griffon instead of shako i'll lose lotz of mf...
Is it worth it?
I have also seen some sorc socket item with rainbow facet... i know it gives more damage but you lose loz of mf... why this choice?
Please someone enlight me about the possible best equip for a light sorc pvm oriented, and also explain me why one choise is better than the other...

I have light sorc and i use diadem+heart of the oak, when i make baal runs and to to it with full dmg (if something good drop is ok if don't is ok i get xp) for mf runs i use another weapon b axe 6 sockets with 6X ist rune and shako with ist (for a higher better chance).
So for me the best weapon for light sorc is Heart Of The Oak (HOTO) why 30+all rez, dext, mana, cast same like eschuta.
Helm first choice diadem because of 25 fast cast rate - enemy lightning and lighting skill dmg, easy to get 119 fcr with dia.
So is almost just your choice, but let me give an advice if you don't have HOTO, use than occulus he give you more mf and rez than eschuta.

 

The reason you see the same paper damage when you equip eschutas is because +18% LightningDamage doesnt appear in paper but does increase your damage a shitload, same happens with the light facets.

So, basically wether u want more MF or more damage is personal oppinion. Also, the amount of reasources that you want want to invest in a Light Sorc ( wether is pvm or pvp) from what you have written, I guess we are speaking of a pvm sorc, I would recomment shako since griffon is a bit expensive and maybe change eschutas if you see you lack damage and ist it to prevent such a huge MF loss.

I have read some mf guide over the net, although they apply to the official bnet... So far i think the optimal mf here, given the 10x drop rate, is between 150-200 so i can have mf and also killing power... am i right? There are a lot of opinions about % mf here, some people say 100, other 300 and so on; have you already tested it?

You are wrong actually. The reason % damage doesn't boost your damage, because of Lightning Mastery already boosts it huge amount. For example, Eschuta's Temper will only add up to 20% Lightning Damage on top of the 338% that is received from Lightning Mastery at level 25, which is only a 6% increase in damage. Because the bonus damage stacks with the masteries, Eschuta's Temper will only add anywhere from 1-12% of extra damage - not the 20% that is stated on the item - so many fire and/or lightning Sorceresses prefer to use Heart of the Oak for the extra resists and mana instead. When Fire Mastery and Lightning Mastery approach really high levels from +skills on equipment, Eschuta's Temper becomes even less useful - maybe only providing 1-2% more damage, even if the Eschuta's Temper is rolled perfectly. You also can see the damage incrase on paper, if you are Cold Sorceress and pick up a Death's Fathom, because Cold Mastery works differently.

So far, Eschuta's Temper, is not a preferable choice over Heart of the Oak, since Hoto gives TONS of mods with it. Only advantage for ET, is socketable. Even with it, Occulus beats it in magic finding, in so many ways.

About the helm;
For magic finding and incrasing exp, i prefer to use a Shako with perfect topaz(Ist is not that low rune ). As weapon, I use Occulus with Ist, since my damage doesn't suffer when i swap with my Hoto and i actually don't need it's resists and FCR. My shield is a 35% FCR Spirit, and as armor, I use a glitched Ethereal Skullder's Ire with perfect Topaz. In PvP(I'm not experienced in PvP) I'm using Griffons/Hoto/CoH.

 

Ok, so the question is: what is the optimal mf% here? I think with eschuta + griffon i can reach 150 and my killing speed should increase, is it good enough? Or maybe with oculus+griffon i can reach 200... all these with sock ist in weapon+helm. What do you think?

P.P.S.: i have found loz of sk like pcombat,cold,trap,ele etc etc... in 2 weeks but none lightning, and i cannot buy either... i'm so depressed

 

I guess within few minutes after post, you can edit.
Use Shako ove Griffon for magic finding. It does not really decrases your speed. Im not sure about optimal mf either, im running around 300 and not found any superb items so far.

 

I was wondering any player on this server has heavenly stone or dimensional shard?
The orb which has +3light sk +3light mastery,+3light, +3chain light with 2 sok.

 

is this a crafted orb? How can you craft it? I have never seen one so far....

 

No. it's a magic orb. Just like assassin magic claws.

 

have seen a lot of players with shard but no one with stone. I dont think people even pick up heavenly stones...
