Maphack BH vs. Sting

Question:

Did anyone pay attention to compare these two? Does either of them support something fancy that the other does not support?

 

Well, I used Sting MH in the past and Sting has features like:

• Auto exit game via hotkey (faster mf runs)
• Auto cast TP and enter for town
• Chicken Mode? (not sure about it)

BH does not support these features but has more advanced features regarding item drops and notifications:

• Chat notification when some special item / rune drops so you do not miss a thing (very nice, imo)
• The Advanced Item Display configuration is more intuitive in my opinion: Sting has fixed numbers for each item from a list, where you have to setup stats like ethearal, sockets, etc. via numbers. The config in BH is based on conditions and are "better human readable" imo. Still it is some work to get a good config for yourself and your needs.
• BH has auto-injected MH and it's active when you run diablo from launcher. Sting had to start maphack individual on each game instance, iirc.

Both maphacks support autoreveal map and some configs for the automap like monsters, unique monsters, missiles, etc...

At the end of the day it depends what MH is working best on your machine. I just switched from Sting to BH because Sting is not running on my modern notebook as it did on my old one.

Hmm, not sure which sting mh version was that? Today v2.24 install process asks me to copy / paste files into the D2 folder. Some of those are to overwrite original files. And that is all. It does not require further assistance to run in your games. You enter, and it is there.

I was thinking to change from sting to bh, but I kind of need this:

Did you investigate the reason? When I change to a better laptop, sting mh might not work for me anymore?

 

sting starts with game too Light probably downloaded only individual version from site
I have new laptop that i buy less than 1 year and sting is running without problem same for my friends. differences from maphacks like Light said is drop notification for BH but for me sting is easier to change and i like quick next game and town tp more and chicken work too if u want to use it. when ur hp is too low it kicks you from game so u dont die this is what chicken do

 

for farming and doing runs, i def recommend sting.
however bh has the ctrl + click function which places things in/out of cube/stash instantly, and that is very very helpful when crafting or rolling.
so i have both maphacks installed to a different game folder, and most of the time i use sting, but when crafting/rolling, i use the bh instance.

if you only had to choose one tho, i would definitely recommend sting.

 

Installed a D2 copy with BH, and I cannot find this inventory -> stash thing.

Ctrl + Left click on item does nothing. Ctrl + Right click drops the item out of inventory (to the ground). I guess, this is something I should config? Not familiar with BH.cfg yet.

 

you dont need to config anything use Shift+ right click for BH

 

Thanks for the clarification @Kefflar32, there is your answer @ameth. sorry for the confusion, i havent used it that much either.

 

Sting also has that. Pick the item on cursor (left click on it), then hit right click. It puts the item on the other side.

The same trick does not work on vendor screen so you won't sell items accidentally. Use ctrl + right click to sell stuff on vendor screen.

 

that work for move things on stash more easy? sound like alot of time saving, sting work for move items but sometimes they dont move and need to move manually

 

@69metal69 i think yes, you only need to hold shift and right click on item and it placed from inventory to stash/cube and vice versa

what needs to be set for this to work? i have a sting installation and it doesnt do this not to stash not to cube.

 

Please add item notification to sting or separete files to load it

 

the problem that i find with sting moving items is that it fail alot, even on vanilla square size (idk how explain it but hope you get my point with that xD)

 

What kind of failure did you find? I am using it to move gems a lot, and I see no instability of any kind.

 

sometimes i need to click 3-4 times to make the item move, and apart of that it dont take in count the bigger size of stash/cube of server, maybe is my configuration, idk
