Problem with socketing an item

Hi guys!

Twice now, when I socket a level 30 item with a level 28 jewel, the level requirement for the item increases to level 32.

The reason this is a problem for me is that I'm building a level 30 dueler, so I can't wear gear >lvl30.

The item in question is an "upped" Swordback Hold shield, Larzuked. The jewel is just a level 28 magic jewel.

This has happened twice now, so I don't want to try it again as I'm wasting good jewels. I'm also hesitant to socket anything else, atm. lol

I'm not sure if this is a bug on the server, or a known D2 bug in general, so forgive me if its the latter. I suspect the problem is that the shield's been upped, but I don't have a non-upped version to test.

But is there anyway to fix this?

Btw, thanks for the great server and community. I've been here about a week, playing solidly.
