Sockets on a templar's

Howdy folks !

Got a bit of a noobish question, for those that read my presentation, I had a break from d2 since 1.09 and still catching up on a few things.

On an insane streak of luck yesterday i dropped a templar's might ( within 10 mins after that I also dropped 2 hp skillers and a jah !!!), I was actually surprised to see the templar showing +3 sorc skills and teleport ( should have read the forums more carefully ) ), as i expected it to be pala only.
So here comes my questions, I fail to see the benefits of -75 req as you still need 156 str for that bloody monarch, do you see any viable alternatives to spirit ? I guess maybe a pvp pure cold could get away with a lidless stacked up with facets ?
My second question is about what to socket the templar with:
Switching from CoH leaves you with a massive lack of rez ( ouch ), and i really have no clear idea what to do about it. I'd have to sok 4 um and that seems a bit of a waste considering other alternatives. Any ideas ?

I can however not really advise on the equipment setup as I'm not into PvP. However regarding the 156str for Monarch. Most people only look at the str cost not taking into consideration the Vitality that the Spirit Monarch offers. At the end of the day the Monarch trumps the other options.

 

Very good point, that spirit is just ideal in almost every respect, I was just looking at ways to exploit that armor to a better potential but at the end of the day you're very right the points put in str come back in hp fcr skills etc...Too good to be missed. Like you I've never been into pvp much and really have no idea where to go. In my time, Baba cold sorc and pnb necro were dominating the scene but many changes have occurred since...
