Ubers set up for kicksin

I play kicksin so my char is generally decent killing ubers. However Mephisto is able to kill me a couple of times per run, so I am looking to improve my set up a bit.

What I have: Fortitude in armor (used so far) / Enigma (did not use vs Ubers) / Rift (main hand weapon but pretty useless vs Ubers I guess) / Gore-riders, lot's of life steal and DR, cta and spirit off hand.
I am mainly thinking about improving my CB and defense. I used Guillam face so far, but it's not great other than CB. I am thinking about Duress (?) maybe. Other idea is: what about fortitude in weapon actually? Since the weapon is not too important for kicksin in general, and that chilling armor would be great with Enigma fex. Will the +200% defense bonus work in weapon though and how?

 

Simple solution - Kira Tiara sock with whatever u think is best at the time.
Advanced tweak - Replace Gore riders with Goblin Toe and for helm - go for Skullders and put 2 x 30% to are either cold or light /light is most of the time/. The idea is to rely on the CB and not to get one shot.
Giga flex - Guardian Angel and Sanctuary. Gl being killed when 95@ even when Mepho is around.
What U lack is the ability to survive the Conviction + Mepho hard hit
Also… 15 to all resist GC is worth more than some extra dmg

 

Oh, I do have 75 resist to all, that's why neither Kira's Tiara nor Sanctuary shield are needed usually. By "95@" you mean 95 all res under that Guardian Angel effect? But does not Mephisto seriously lower it anyway? Or with Tiara and Sanctuary I will still remain at 95? That's interesting...

Other problem is really she is not very tough, only 1600 hit-point with no buffs and Meph hits hard. Although the last time I did Treachery trick, cta buff and only after smashing Mephisto realized that I did not even change my 220 defense Treachery to smth better...

p.s. I know about Goblin Toe but like Gore Riders better.
p.p.s. Do you know anything about Forti defense bonus on weapon?
p.p.p.s. And I actually found a nice rune-word Kingslayer which is pretty cheap but have nice CB and OW. What do you think about it?

And you meant no skullder but giant skull, right? I see, with 2 ums inside it will have solid resists and 10% CB - nice...

 

Thinking about the day I have and that there should be access to a certain Ubersins and how I don’t consider myself ever going for sin to do Ubers and how I used Smiter which all equipment were worth near Sur /grief weapon and all inv+other items/ and it never died regardless of ppl in game or the guys I am doing them for failed to Mephistopheles and it can go total mess sometimes and takes long time to do it and remember 2x baals and tons of spawned archers and Diablo actually not letting me lay a hit on his older brother and was a long fight with newbies dying all over the place… funny as wakk!
One of *“those days” (*lots of guys want to “help” and there u go - having a blast again) I was running out of mana so was unable to hit for a second or two /depending on Diablo mana burn+Baal’s cast that ruins your brain waves/ so I actually wondered if I would reach the original Baal this time cuz that Illusion looked like a Necro-General who summoned his full build+inventory army in here.
But when realise it looks it looks so natural - a lone Holy warrior holding this ground in a total demonic dimension - that skill demands only 2 mana so .. it was maybe easily above 20+ minutes in Trist and they were still waiting or them alive.

Assassins are mercenaries and honestly don’t play them

I am gonna try your set up next time, I actually have everything to make these overresists. What is Meph's attack based on though? Is it light, or cold or physical? What should I focus on the most?

 

You should have a Wisp ring with high light absorb in inventory and put it on when tackling Uber Meph. Also, Tgod helps in the same way.
Raven is a must-have for all, and Dwarf helps with Uber D and Uber B. So be able to switch items on-the-fly, depending on who you're facing.
Always try to separate them, lure Uber M away from the other two and handle him first.
Get a might merc (NM offensive) and gear him decently (there's a post by @MMladenov in the Uber smiter guide, which applies for your kicksin too, I believe).
Some gear that casts Amp damage would also probably help (his suggestion is Lacerator, preferably eth, I've tested it with my smiter and it works wonderfully).
Also, sell that CtA and get yourself a BO barb, you may see a 'slight' difference in survival ability.

Last, but not least, why are you tormenting yourself with insisting to do Uber T with a kicksin, when there's a 'right tool for the job' and it\s called Uber smiter? Extremely cheap gear, extremely effective at the job. Just my 2c.

 

It's not about ubers, it's about character I like to play. Ubers are good addition to what my sin can do.
My cta is smth like 15 level I believe. Although real barb should do more, I admit...
It is only Meph who is challenging there and I do separate him from others beforehand.

I am not a sin specialist. I did try once or two... or five in the last .. when did D2 came out?

Uber kicksin has same problems as a smiter... but there is one addition - attack rating and that thing alone will make her more expensive to build and never as efficient as a smither.
For example You need about 5700 attack rating to have ~60% chance to hit Mephisto (if You dont land a hit, You can not heal from life tap - if You are using it)
IMO most important parts which can let You survive are:

• resists,
• healing (from what i remmeber - over 10 years passed since I did UT with non smiter/necro - Life Steal does not work on ubers so only ways are Life Tap or potions),
• attack rating,
  
• crushing blow,
• open wounds (need to kill em eventually ).

Defense is not that important (I highly doubt that You can get enough of it so that it would make a difference.). Here Smiter can get 80k+ defense with just bugged exile.

Block seems way more efficient, but it would need to be tested - how much dexterity is needed to max it...

• Hyperion needs 127 str and has 49% block chance for assassin;
• Troll Nest 106 str and 45% block;
• no other shield, because str req is too high or block chance super low;

... and if it is worth it, considering that You would end up with less life (needed when taking spells right in Your face).

Choosing between Troll Nest and Hyperion would be connected to other items.

• Guardian Angel needs 118 str and it adds +20% chance for block,
• Gorerider 94 str
• Lacerator 96 str and 122 dex has OW and increases Your damage with Amplify Damage - with this one no Life Tap for You,
• Fleshripper 42/86 - has crushing blow and open wounds),
• Stormlash 125/77 - CB, Static Field and some Lighting Absorb,
• Wizardspike - 75 all res,
• Heaven's Light 125/65 CB, 1-2 sox,
• Beast rune word,
• etc.

It is mainly about keeping all resistances (under mephisto's aura) as close to max (with Guardian Angel if You want to be extra safe - altho Your damage will drop if You take Fortitude down) as possible.

Here are my choices:

• Helm - Kira's Guardian + ruby or um (depends on budget, charms and other items - max resists under Mephisto) / COA - I don't like GF because it gives CB only, while Kira has good resists and cannot be frozen,
• Amulet Metalgrid +400-450 attack rating and resists OR The Rising Sun (only if You already have enough attack rating / resists),
• Armor - Guardian Angel + um/ruby or Fortitude (depends on Your max HP.. for taking spells on face),
• Shield - Hyperion / Troll Nest Sanctuary (with enough +life charms, so I could feel safe, I would go for max block - especially with Guardian Angel),
• Belt - Tundergod's (light absorb and max light res. / Snowclash (cold absorb and max cold resistance Mephisto's burst damage is cold based) / Verdungo / String,
• Gloves - Dracs / crafted (20 IAS + CB + stats / resists),
• Rings - Rares + AR + stats + resists / Wisp / Raven
• Boots - IMO Gores are best here, if not then tri res rares with FHR, but then need to get other source or OW and CB,
• Weapon - Beast CB, OW, Fanaticism / Fleshripper / Stormlash,
• Charms +resists (as much as needed for max under Meph) + life (more the better)

If You want to save a skill point, You could prebuff with Treachery.
Getting a barbarian for warcries would be good too BO of level 30 is easy and cheap to get (viper armor, shaco / arreat helm, +2/3 warcries amu, two spears / throwing axes +3 wc - from Malah or Anya)

PS. I understand why You want to do it with kicksin... it was the same with me, when I ... after HOURS of changing runes and jewels, finally conquered UT with IK barbarian!.. then zealot, dudu.. I failed with mele soso tho.

Just a short disclaimer, so you don't think I have a naked character with no power to kill anything. I have around 14-20k attack rating depending what exactly is on me. Normal wear: draculs, upgraded gores, raven frost, Mara, upgraded String of Ears, Stormshield, enigma/fortitude. Yeah, defense is not great, smth like 6k max under frozen armor, you are right it does not make a lot of difference. And 1670 life. But her damaging ability is pretty good, DT has 6 kicks. I've beaten ubers 4 times already with only Meph being a problem. Am looking for tweak in my setup to make it more effective and am going to apply some suggestions.

p.s. Does anybody know though whether +200% defense bonus of Fortitude applies when it's made in weapon, not in armor???

On suggested weapons. Yeah, Stormlass and Fleshripper actually look nice. Because of CB and OW. + % damage won't work with kicks, but these are still good weapons. Which I did not find yet

What will "beast" do for its price though aside lower CB and OW?

And I am thinking about this runeword https://diablo.fandom.com/wiki/Kingslayer_Rune_Word - 33% CB, 50% OW - that looks solid... And pretty cheap.

I experimented a bit, and came to my final setup.
Weapon: Stormlash (bought it). This one is sick! Rift is funny and all, but Stormlash just destroy single targets!
Only when fighting Mephisto I change my Shako to Kira's and cast my own Fade (smth like 11 lvl) - with this I have all max resists under his aura and beat him no problem. Other ubers are just a joke.
The rest of my gear goes unchanged: Enigma (no real need to change for Forti), Stormshield, Mara, raven frost, draculs, etc...
Important is not to forget BO before coming to Tristram

 

There is one thing that makes Beast superb in comparison, ... .

It's like this: After killing all three Ubers, You turn into a Werebear and shout "Rrrraaaaa! Whoooo's next?!"
